Irony Meets Racism

Considering that the Obama administration immediately railed against Arizona as being a bunch of racists for passing a law allowing state law enforcement to ask for proof of legal residency that essentially mirrors the current federal law and that most of the country supports whole-heartedly -- that the Obama administration hasn't read, of course -- demonstrating once again his seeming eagerness to govern against the will of the American people, I'd say there's really only one word to describe this:

Obama will host President Felipe Calderón Hinojosa and his wife, Margarita Zavala, and about 200 other "invited" guests tonight for his second state dinner.

They will be checking ID's at the door.

Obama Uses Outright Racism To Shill For Immigration Reform

Wow, this is pretty audacious, even for the one who spent more in his first year than all 43 presidents before him. You can check out the video at the link, but it's so filled with the same old lies and campaign slogans that it kinda makes me sick, so I'm not going to post it here. The key section is this, according to Politico:

The Democratic National Committee this morning released this clip of the president rallying the troops, if rather coolly, for 2010. Obama's express goal: "reconnecting" with the voters who voted for the first time in 2008, but who may not plan to vote in the lower-profile Congressional elections this year.

Obama speaks with unusual demographic frankness about his coalition in his appeal to "young people, African-Americans, Latinos, and women who powered our victory in 2008 [to] stand together once again."

What??  He only wants these people to help him out?  What's he got against Americans of the Asian, European, or male persuasion?  By the way, this is the most post-racial President ever.  Forgot that little detail.

On August 28, 1963, Martin Luther King Jr. stood at the Lincoln Memorial and admonished America to return to its First Principles. In his I Have a Dream Speech, he announced his dream that “one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.’” He longed to see a day when all “would be guaranteed the ‘unalienable Rights’ of ‘Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.’” Dr. King did not talk about remaking America. His dream was one which, in his words, was “deeply rooted in the American dream.” It hearkened back to the principles upon which our country was founded. It was not a rejection of our past, but a vision of hope based on the principles of our past.

Dr. King held firm to the truths of the Declaration of Independence in a time when the situation of African Americans appeared hopeless. Based on a series of arbitrary and unjust policies, African Americans were denied basic protections of the rule of law. Segregation prevented access to public accommodations, and many were reduced to poverty as a result of these injustices. Dr. King did not ask African Americans to be satisfied with their condition, nor did he denounce America as an unjust nation. Instead, Dr. King assured his listeners that their circumstances were contrary to America’s creed. He used the central principle of the Declaration – natural human equality – as a rallying cry for civil rights.

Dr. King held that the principle of human equality is the foundation of the Declaration’s statement of natural rights. We are all equal because we all participate in a common human nature. Since we are all equal, we are all entitled to the basic rights that are derived from human nature. From these First Principles, Dr. King understood that all Americans—regardless of skin color—should have access to the rule of law, public accommodations, and thereby have the ability to pursue economic opportunities and, ultimately, happiness.

But Dr. King did not think that the principle of equality meant that everyone should be treated the same. He sought equality of rights and equality before the law, not equality of outcomes or equality as a result. For Dr. King, justice was when a person is judged “by the content of their character” rather than by arbitrary considerations such as skin color. Dr. King did not mean that we should treat people of good character and bad character the same. Actual equality is achieved when arbitrary standards are replaced by meaningful criteria such as talent and virtue. A just country, in Dr. King’s vision, is one in which people are rewarded for acting well.

As Americans, we should take this lesson from Martin Luther King Jr. to heart: we should look to our First Principles to guide us through our current political problems. In his latest book, We Still Hold These Truths: Rediscovering Our Principles, Reclaiming Our Future, Matthew Spalding articulates ten core principles of America that define our national creed and explain our common purpose: These principles are equality, natural rights, consent of the governed, religious liberty, private property, rule of law, constitutionalism, self governmentand independence. Spalding writes:

Only when we know these principles once again can we renew America. Only when we understand the significance of these principles can we grasp the nobility of our accomplishments as a people and see how far we have strayed off our course as a nation. Only then can we realize the societal choices before us and begin to develop a strategy to reclaim our future.

The future of America rests on returning to its First Principles. We face an unprecedented expansion of government power and a new kind of tyranny – a softer, bureaucratic tyranny. As we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day, let us rely on our First Principles as a guide for the challenges we face ahead.

Which Side Is Racist Again?

I'm just wondering, 'cause I thought it was supposed to be us right-wing Bible-thumpin' bitter-clingers who were the racists, but that can't be correct according to these stories:

The top Democrat in the U.S. Senate apologized on Saturday for comments he made about Barack Obama's race during the 2008 presidential bid and are quoted in a yet-to-be-released book about the campaign.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada described in private then-Sen. Barack Obama as "light skinned" and "with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one." Obama is the nation's first African-American president.

Oh, and there's this, too:

Ben Smith reported on Bubba's racist remarks from the campaign trail.

I've finally gotten my hands on a copy of Game Change, in which John Heliemann and Mark Halperin report:

[A]s Hillary bungled Caroline, Bill [Clinton's] handling of Ted was even worse. The day after Iowa, he phoned Kennedy and pressed for an endorsement, making the case for his wife. But Bill then went on, belittling Obama in a manner that deeply offended Kennedy. Recounting the conversation later to a friend, Teddy fumed that Clinton had said, A few years ago, this guy would have been getting us coffee.

Barack Obama really let Harry Reid have it for suggesting that Obama fakes "a Negro dialect" when it suits him politically:

"It seems to be that we can forgive a 100-year-old senator for some of the indiscretion of his youth, but, what is more difficult to forgive is the current president of the U.S. Senate," said Obama.

"The Democratic Party itself has to drive out Harry Reid. If they have to stand for something, they have to stand up and say this is not the person we want representing our party."

Oh, wait, I'm sorry — that's not what Obama said about Harry Reid. He said this in 2002 while in the Illinois state Senate, about Trent Lott when the then-Majority Leader toasted Strom Thurmond on his 100th birthday by saying that the country would have been better off if Thurmond had won his 1948 presidential bid

Hm. 

But surely the Congressional Black Caucus would take Reid to task, right?  Uh, not exactly:

I have had an opportunity to speak with Senator Reid and he apologized for his unfortunate remarks concerning the President and he understands the gravity of such remarks. There are too many issues like the economy, job creation and energy for these regrettable comments to distract us from the work that must be done on behalf of the American people.

Here are two horrible, horrible examples of the eeeeeevil raaaacism of white Americans.  Read them and be ashamed of yourselves (even though you have nothing to do with it)!

Flying fists

A prominent Columbia architecture professor punched a female university employee in the face at a Harlem bar during a heated argument about race relations, cops said yesterday.

Police busted Lionel McIntyre, 59, for assault yesterday after his bruised victim, Camille Davis, filed charges.

McIntyre and Davis, who works as a production manager in the school's theater department, are both regulars at Toast, a popular university bar on Broadway and 125th Street, sources said.

The professor, who is black, had been engaged in a fiery discussion about "white privilege" with Davis, who is white, and another male regular, who is also white, Friday night at 10:30 when fists started flying, patrons said.

Clearly, Camille Davis is a complete and total raaaacist because she made McIntyre so angry with her raaaacist hate-mongering that he had no choice but to hit her in the face.  McIntyre is the real victim here.


Clemency denied

Virginia Governor Tim Kaine has denied John Allen Muhammad's request for clemency, which means Muhammad's execution will take place as scheduled tonight.

Muhammad is being executed in connection with the murder of Dean Meyers. Meyer's brother Bob and Bob's wife will attend the execution, as will the husband and father of Lori Lewis Rivera. Relatives of other Muhammad-Malvo victims plan to attend, too:

"Cheryll Witz is one of several victims' relatives who were going to watch the execution. Malvo confessed that, at Muhammad's direction, he shot her father, Jerry Taylor, on a Tucson, Ariz., golf course in March 2002.

"He basically watched my dad breathe his last breath," she said. "Why shouldn't I watch his last breath?""

Muhammad will be executed by lethal injection at 9 p.m. EST tonight at Greensville Correctional Center, near Jarratt, Va., south of Richmond.

UPDATE: Muhammad's attorney and family describe him as innocent, fearless as he faces death with dignity, and a veteran who returned from the Gulf War a "changed man."

UPDATE 2: The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports Muhammad was executed at 9:11 PM EST. He did not make a final statement.

Clearly, Governor Kaine was raaaaacist for allowing Muhammed to be executed.  Oh wait...no, never mind.  Kaine's a Democrat -- not that you'd know it from any of the MSM links in the story above, since none of them mention that little fact -- so it can't possibly be racist.

I guess it's George W. Bush's fault.

Where's The Racism Again?

On the conservative Right, you say?  Uh, no:

Leaders of the Maryland NAACP, worried that a Baltimore mayor's criminal conviction could result in the appointment of a white or Republican leader who may not fully represent the majority black and Democratic city, are asking state lawmakers to strip the governor of authority to permanently fill the office.

The request, made in a resolution adopted at a state meeting of the civil rights group last weekend, marks the first time a mainstream organization has raised questions about succession should Baltimore Mayor Dixon be convicted of any of the nine charges she faces. Dixon has been indicted for theft and perjury and the first of two trials is scheduled for early next month.

..."Our concern is who would the governor appoint?" Cheatham said. "Here you have a predominantly African-American city. What if the governor appointed somebody white? ... Would he appoint someone Irish to be the mayor?"

By this logic, then, the Democrat majority in Congress should be evaporated since many Dems currently sit in seats represented by mostly Republican districts.  How about that, Mr. Cheatham?  Furthermore, by this logic, since African Americans only comprise about 13% of the population, we should artificially cut down the number of African Americans in professional sports, in schools, in the workplace, etc.  Is this really the logic he wants to apply to America?  Or, is this just another shallow example of simple raaaaaacism from the Left?

And where are Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson?  Surely they wouldn't be so intellectually vapid that they would stand for such blatant racism just because it's coming from African Americans and being directed at whites, would they?

Guess who's fixated on race?

Former NBA great, actor, and talk show host, John Salley, told Adam Carolla in an interview this week that "all of white America" hates Obama."

*sigh*  Haven't we been over this already? Gateway Pundit points out the obvious -- yet apparently secret, to the Left -- reality:

Maybe the fact that the economy is a disaster, the unemployment rate is skyrocketing, and the national debt is three times what it was last year has something to do with Obama's slide. Or, maybe it's his foreign policy that protects killers and tyrants and punishes allies that's the problem.
Then again, maybe it's just racism.

We don't oppose the African American man in the Oval Office, we oppose the big-government, binge-spending, America-disarming, ally-snubbing, enemy-hugging, State-ist-expanding, lying man in the Oval Office.  His skin color doesn't make a damned bit of difference, and almost everyone who thinks so is on the Left.

It's A Race Thing...For The Left

I'm certain you've seen the accusations by now that all criticism of and disagreement with Barack Obama must be simple racism. It is, of course, laughably insulting, and patently untrue, but that's what the Left has come to. They can't address the substance of any issues, so they attack the character of the ones disagreeing, and the most obvious card to play is the race card.

Not content with a single interview in which he accuses everyone who disagrees with Obama as being racist, he did another one:

Funny, there are just a couple problems here. I don't recall him having any problem with Democrats calling Bush Hitler and such, we've discussed that death panels will, in fact, exist, and he also misquotes the sign in question:



I suppose that's as close as he can be expected to get, given that he's a doddering old fool who never had any credibility as President, much less a former President.

RNC Chair Michael Steele has the correct response to this ridiculous assertion:

But, the sad reality is that racial hate crimes do happen in Barack Obama's America. For example, a white kid on a bus in St. Louis got beat up by a bunch of black kids, and the bus driver did nothing to stop them. It's all on video. Then it happened again, to a different white kid. I'm certain that Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and Barack Obama are just about ready to release a statement condemning these beatings, maybe head up some protest marches, and calling on blacks to stop their vicious racial hate crimes. Any day now. Just sure of it.

Like I said, this phony 'racism' is so ridiculous that even the AP is warning the Democrats to cool it a little bit (but only a little bit):

If ObamaCare crashes and burns, the Democratic strategy painting the opposition as racist nuts — starting with that odious DNC ad about “angry mobs” in July and continuing to the present day — will go down as one of the most insanely idiotic gambits in modern political history.

Seriously, though, I'm certain that you, as a thinking, intelligent person, realize the absolute fallacy of this racism accusation. It is patently false, and simply an emotionally-charged method of shutting down all debate and disagreement with their chosen Obamessiah. That's it. Essentially all real racism rests squarely on the Left, and their accusations prove it.

You know what's really stupid about all this? Obama's only half black. His mother was a nice young (white) Kansas girl, remember? So, if white people are racist for opposing Obama because he's half black, does that mean that black people are racist for opposing Obama because he's half white? Hmmm...

Regardless, I think we need to remind people of these important facts on race. More to come on that in future posts.

For now, just don't buy this load of garbage.

A Trifecta Of Liberalism, All In One Crazy Radical

This is quite a learning experience:

The media should investigate the racial views of conservative activists like the ones who descended on Washington last weekend, one liberal congresswoman said Wednesday.

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) said that it’s not enough for African-Americans to levy allegations of racism against the right-leaning protesters, and that the media must look into their views.

“I want those people talked to; I want them interviewed,” Waters told the liberal Bill Press Radio show in a podcast. “I want journalists to be all over those rallies and the marches with the birthers and the teabaggers.”

“What I’m looking for is the very people who carry the signs who are referring to the policies in very, very strange ways like ‘Obamacare’ and ‘Barry Obamacare with Kennedy,’” she said. “What I’ve been interested in is hearing from those people that everybody’s referring to — everybody on the Mall, in the rally.”

Wow. This Democrat Congresswoman is actually saying that anyone who disagrees with Obama should have their thoughts examined. Recall the Thought Police, anyone? Now do you see that this is not simply a flight of fancy, but something that the Left actually wants to see implemented?

But there's more.

She perpetuates the laughable assertion that such dissent is also inherently racist. Hot Air pops that balloon with a dose of common sense:

The Hill reports that Waters identifies racists by their use of the term “ObamaCare”, which would apparently include me. Gee, when I called it HillaryCare in 1993, was that racist too?

So let’s get this straight. Calling Obama’s overhaul of the American health-care system “ObamaCare” is evidence of some kind of bigotry, either latent or overt. Calling protesters “teabaggers,” on the other hand, is — what, exactly? Wit? Sophomoric humor? A complete ignorance of American history?

And never mind the fact that she's using an extremely vulgar term to accuse all dissenters of being racist. It's okay if it's done by the Left, you know.

Maxine Waters is a complete and total nutjob. Unfortunately, she's representative of far too many Leftists in this country, and in the American government.

More Post-Racialness In The Era Of Obama

The Left can't speak to the substance of any of these critical issues, so they're left to petty and vicious assaults on their opponents' character and lives. In the case of Barack Obama, the obvious target is race, and we've really seen the race card come out more and more as his agenda has begun unraveling. Take a look:

Not that anyone serious pays Carter much attention anymore, but it's still a big indicator of how pervasive this idea is on the Left of any disagreement with Obama being rooted in racism.

Maureen Dowd:

I’ve been loath to admit that the shrieking lunacy of the summer — the frantic efforts to paint our first black president as the Other, a foreigner, socialist, fascist, Marxist, racist, Commie, Nazi; a cad who would snuff old people; a snake who would indoctrinate kids — had much to do with race.

I tended to agree with some Obama advisers that Democratic presidents typically have provoked a frothing response from paranoids — from Father Coughlin against F.D.R. to Joe McCarthy against Truman to the John Birchers against J.F.K. and the vast right-wing conspiracy against Bill Clinton.

But Wilson’s shocking disrespect for the office of the president — no Democrat ever shouted “liar” at W. when he was hawking a fake case for war in Iraq — convinced me: Some people just can’t believe a black man is president and will never accept it.

I think this is simply a matter of projection. The Left sees people in terms of categories, and tend to think along the lines of how to divide those categories into groups that can be persuaded/suckered/coerced into supporting their agenda. Skin color is, of course, the most obvious category there is. Since this is how they think, they believe that we on the Right think the same way. We don't.

We look at people as people, as individuals with vast individual potential. That's why we treasure the freedom to live, to try, to succeed...and, at times, to fail. That's how we learn and grow and improve ourselves. That's why we on the Right believe that responsibility is best left in the hands of the individual rather than an all-powerful State - we will always make a better decision for ourselves and our families than the State will. Always. When conservatives rally around a core set of principles that apply equally well to all Americans, we win. Reagan did it in the early 80s. Gingrich did it in the mid-90s. We can do it again in 2010. But to categorize people into separate groups to be won over...that's the realm of liberals, and it is not a viable long-term strategy, nor is it an honorable or respectful way of addressing the needs of the American people. But that's how they roll, so that's how they think we roll, too.

Thus, any and all disagreement with Barack Obama simply must be because of race. To them, nothing else makes sense. RedState recaps how this has been a constant theme of Obama:

Many of us noted back during the ‘08 primaries and general election that the Obama camp would cry racism at the drop of a hat. He performed poorly in Pennsylvania because of racism. He was trounced in WV because of racism. In August 2008, Jacob Weisberg wrote that the only reason McCain could win the election was because of racism. They could never quite fathom that there were lots of reasons to oppose Obama other than race. Being the least qualified presidential contender since Wendell Wilkie and choosing convicted terrorists, terrorist who would have happily murdered Americans were it not for their epic levels of incompetence, and racist hatemongers as BFFs and mentors certainly popped on my radar as reasons why even Hillary Clinton was preferable to Barack Obama.

We predicted that should he win, the climate would only get worse.

And you read those predictions here on this blog, too.

Don't expect it to stop. In fact, it will continue to get worse as Obama continues to slide. The Left will refuse to engage on issues on an intellectual level because they know their views are not reflected by a majority of the American people. Instead, they will resort to character attacks, smears, and lies designed to discredit, dishearten, and disorient those who don't fall in line. Don't give in, and don't give them the satisfaction.

This is not about racism toward America's first black President. It's about a fundamental disagreement on policy with the most radically anti-American, Statist President America has ever seen.

Disagreement = Racism

If there's one thing that's become apparent since even before Barack Obama took office, it's the fact that anyone simply disagreeing with him on any issue is going to be tarred and feathered as a racist. We saw this during the campaign, and we're seeing it now, from the Gates mess to ObamaKennedyDeathCare, and more. The official propaganda wing of the Democrat party, the mainstream media, is happily perpetuating that ridiculous theme:


There's a reason that almost all print media is tanking, and that reason is ludicrous, biased, utter stupidity like this.

But it's not really a surprise, now, is it? I just want you all to be rock solid on the fact that this is a given nowadays, because I know many of you are speaking out and spreading the truth. The plain fact is that liberals on the Left cannot debate the issues because the country doesn't agree with them; if they were honest, they'd be summarily shown the door. So, since they have no message worth supporting, their only course of action is to demonize their opponent, and the most potent weapon they have in that arsenal is the race card.

Don't lay down and roll over for this garbage! Just know that most of the country hasn't subscribed to this petty racial insanity, nor are they particularly fond of what's going on in America right now.

It's going to be a battle to kick this fallacy, but it can be done, starting with you. Go for it!

The Ridiculous Beer Summit

I am honestly and truly disgusted by the overblown coverage of Obama's so-called beer summit. I refuse to fully report it, as I think it's nothing more than a stunt to make Obama look magnanimous despite the fact that he's the one who stoked the racial flames on this one. It's completely ridiculous, and doesn't deserve the excessive coverage it got. If you want to know what's going on, go here.

For my part, I will only echo this sentiment from Powerline about the general subject:

I do have one more reflection on the matter (though not about myself). As "race men" go, Gates has always been viewed as relatively sensible, as opposed to, say, Cornel West. Indeed, as E.J. Dionne reminds us in a worthwhile column, Gates once criticized "race politics" as a "court of the imagination wherein blacks seek to punish whites for their misdeeds and whites seek to punish blacks for theirs, and an infinite regress of score settling ensues."

Barack Obama, for his part, was going to be a post-racial president. As such he would lead us out of the "race politics" Gates (and the rest of us) finds so sterile and counterproductive.

Yet when the rubber met the road, Gates didn't hesitate to level baseless charges of racism in an extremely aggressive manner. And Obama didn't hesitate to attack the white police officer before he had the facts.

This suggests to me that, as far as African-Americans are concerned, "race politics" will continue unabated, as if Obama had never been elected president.

Sadly, this is exactly as predicted by conservatives long before the election.

In A Testimony About Energy, Of Course You Would Bring Up Racism...If You're A Liberal

While we're on the subject of racism, let's take a look at another example of my assertion that the vast majority of racism in America today resides solidly on the Left of the political spectrum:

He correctly lands on the most critical point of the entire debate: the discussion was about energy, not racism. For Boxer to inject racism into it could only be explained by her liberal tendency to condescend to blacks as needing to remain in their place. A much longer telephone interview can be seen here.

As I've said, most of the remaining racism in America can be found in the liberal Left, not the conservative Right.

Barack Obama, The Post-Racial President

You've probably seen the headlines on this one...I'm a bit late to the party. But, hopefully something in here will be new for you.

This started a few days ago, during President Obama's latest prime time press conference to sucker the American public on his government health care takeover. The last question of the evening looked suspiciously planted, as a reporter asked Obama about the arrest of a friend of his, Cambridge professor Henry Louis Gates. Gates had apparently locked himself out of his house and was trying to get back in when Cambridge police officer James Crowley arrested him in the process. Gates went nuts, accusing Crowley of racism. Obama followed suit, completely demolishing all appearances of being a 'post-racial' President. Take a look:

Obviously, he was prepared for the question and wanted to address it. And, equally obvious was his desire to flame the police officer in the name of racism. Here's a rule of thumb: when you begin a statement with 'I don't have all the facts..." you need to just shut up right there. Of course, Obama proceeds to relate his version of the facts that he supposedly didn't know, accusing the police of 'acting stupidly' and throwing down the RACISM card.

Problem was, this Crowley guy was an officer held in extremely high regard, and was actually hired to teach classes about how to avoid racial profiling.

In response, there was immediate outrage from a lot of people, including Bill Cosby, for resorting to the accusations of racism. The most heat came from police officers, along with demands for an apology. Though he falls all over himself to apologize to foreign nations for all of the eeeevil perpetrated upon the world by America in years/decades/centuries past, Obama can't quite make himself apologize for essentially slandering honorable police officers. Instead, he offered this statement:

Translation: I regret the angst over my comments...but not my actual comments. It was an overreaction, and oh, by the way, whitey is still committing eeeeevil acts of racism everywhere, so that's why black people are sensitive about these things. Go away.

But Crowley's fellow officers are standing by him 100% (even the black ones). When pressed about the apology, Obama doubled down:

Once again, Obama admits he doesn't know the facts of the case, but he still pushes his version of the facts of the case, which then implies racism is doing its sinister, dastardly deeds.

Yesterday, we finally got some insight into the 911 call from the neighbor, and there's actually no real mention of race. Huh...! Also of note is the fact that Gates is 'belligerent', and Crowley is calling for backup. Huh...!

Rush Limbaugh has a couple points worth mentioning. First, he makes a few suggestions about Gates' roll in all this:

Okay, folks, I have been gingerly dancing around the Gates business, but I've decided here that I'm going to tell you what I really think about it. In the first place, what we now know is that Gates was not arrested sipping tea sitting on his sofa legally in his house. He followed the police out of the house screaming at them. How else would neighbors know he was belligerent? That's when he was arrested. He wasn't sitting in a couch sipping tea daintily. He was screaming at the cop there to help protect his property. I've also learned that Gates' house had a history of having been broken into. This is why the neighbor called. There are a lot of break-ins in this neighborhood recently. In fact, there was damage done to Gates' door.

Now, here's what I think. The cops come, they find out it's your house, you're legally there, there's no reason to arrest you. Something happened. I think Skip Gates wanted to be arrested and provoked the cop. The only person who should really come under any scrutiny about the cops being there is Gates almost certainly liberal neighbor. I mean, we're talking Cambridge here. These houses are kind of close together. The neighbor didn't recognize her own neighbor, didn't recognize Gates, called the cops. When you live in a neighborhood with houses right next to each other, normal people recognize their neighbors. But the neighbor, no doubt being a liberal, probably racist, saw what she saw.

Once the cops show up, Gates instantly saw opportunity for capital "P" publicity, chance to get out from the shadow of his former colleague, Cornel West, there's a rivalry between those two guys. You have to go out of your way to be disorderly to get arrested, especially after it's been established that you are the owner of the house. And, by the way, Snerdley, let me check. We all know who Henry Louis Gates is. Do you know what department he teaches in at Harvard? What's his department? African-American Studies. What is African-American studies? It's an entire department devoted to creating racial friction. All of his academic writings are about racial issues. Something about this -- and then Obama jumping on that question last night, "Cops acted stupidly." This is how unfortunate things start and grow and snowball, and I'm not comfortable with it.

Then, he offers some conclusions on Obama's role and motivations:

Lesson one. Obama's instincts are those of a community organizer, not a president. Don't bother me with the facts; I have to play to the crowd here.

Lesson two: Obama can sound as if he knows what he's talking about even when by his own admission he doesn't know what he's talking about. It's not what he says; it's how he says it.

Lesson three: When Obama is faced with a political setback, even one of his own makings, he plays the race card. This is something I have figured out watching ever since the campaign began. Anybody who wonders what Obama accomplished with that statement had better realize it reduced the focus on his failure before the August recess demand.

Now, I don't know that he was purposely trying to do that. I think he's genuinely revved up about race. You know me. I think he is genuinely angry in his heart and has been his whole life. And if any of you have learned that Obama cannot, will not ever acknowledge his mistakes, shame on you. In his world, he doesn't make mistakes. Cap and trade is not a mistake; stimulus wasn't a mistake. The health care is not a mistake. ... This is Obama's secret weapon.

...the race problem is not going to go away simply because we've elected the first black president. It's been exacerbated. Obama still smokes cigarettes and he's just thrown a lighted cigarette on a can of gasoline. And he did that at his press conference the other night and he's got this thing now -- here's the important political significance of the event. And at this point I will talk about the precious moderates who vote and the precious independents who vote. Trust me when I tell you that all during the campaign these precious moderates and independents believed that we were genuinely getting over the racial hump. Post-racial, so many, so many guilty people voted for Obama just to get that legacy of sin due to slavery out of our system to be done with it. They thought the election of a black president would accomplish this.

All of a sudden this guy that they elected who they thought was all of these wonderful, perfect things, is now behaving as a community organizer and is fanning the flames of race and is calling the police stupid, and I guarantee you those people -- we've all been waiting and asking the question, "When are these Obama voters going to wake up?" Well, this incident might be -- I don't know yet, a little early to say -- this incident might be the wake-up call for some of these moderates 'cause folks, don't doubt me. You know that there were a lot of people that voted for Obama out of pure guilt, hoping that his election would just wipe the slate clean, at least make them feel better about it. And this just destroys that.

These sentiments have been echoed elsewhere, so Limbaugh is not alone in thinking these things.

It's certainly not something that a post-racial President would ever do or say, and the whole thing stinks like crazy. You know, it almost makes one wonder if Obama was actually listening to and agreeing with Rev. Jeremiah Wright all those years in the church pew...

Racism Rears Its Ugly Head In Detroit

The blacks in the audience at a recent Detroit city council meeting were told to "go home."
They were not wanted.

Here's the latest from the cesspool once known as Detroit.

Nowhere is Michigan's brain drain on greater display than in the Detroit City Council chambers.

My hopes for Detroit's future faded as I watched the tape of last Tuesday's council meeting, the one that considered the Cobo Center expansion deal.

It was a tragic circus, a festival of ignorance that confirmed the No. 1 obstacle to Detroit's progress is the bargain basement leaders that city voters elect. The [racism] that is now the dominant ideology of the council was on proud display, both at the table and in the audience.

Speakers advocating for the deal were taunted by the crowd and cut short by Council President Monica Conyers, who presided over the hearing like an angry bulldog; blacks were advised by the citizens to, "Go home."

Opponents were allowed to rant and ramble on uninterrupted about "those people" who want to steal Detroit's assets and profit from the city's labors.

A pitiful Teamster official who practically crawled to the table on his knees expressing profuse respect for this disrespectful body was battered by both the crowd and the council.

When he dared suggest that an improved Cobo Center would create more good-paying jobs for union workers, Conyers reminded him, "Those workers look like you; they don't look like me."

Desperate, he invoked President Barack Obama's message of unity and was angrily warned, "Don't you say his name here."

Do you see how horrible this is?  And here I thought we were in the Era of Obama, where racism was supposed to evaporate, but even his good name apparently can't win the day here.  I mean, seriously, how is this behavior excusable by any stretch of the imagination?  Where is Al Sharpton with his bullhorn?  Where is Jesse Jackson and his hordes of angry rioters?  How can they let racial insults of this magnitude stand unmolest...oh, wait, hang on a sec...

Oops, I guess I got a few things switched around.  It was actually the whites that were berated by the city council and told to 'go home', not the blacks.  The council is apparently dominated by angry bulldog-like blacks, not whites.  I seem to have gotten everything exactly opposite.  Huh.

In that case, never mind, 'cause we all know it's only racism if it's done against blacks.

About That Racism Thing...

Yesterday was Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Here are the words that Dr. King utilized to impact the entire nation in advancement of equality (video and text excerpt):

I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal."

I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.

I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.

Dr. King was a man of integrity, a man of honor, and a man of peace. He was a class act, and a man worthy of respect. His words were a beacon of hope, not just to African Americans, but to all Americans of a vision of freedom and equality for all. One might think that his vision scanned through the decades yet to come, seeing the first black President, and a day when racism finally died.

Has Dr. King's dream been fulfilled? Has racism breathed its last? I leave it to you to decide [***Language Warning!***]:

Glenn Beck is one of the big-name conservative media types, with a TV show, a radio show, and a magazine (among other projects). He has a gift for boiling political complexities down into barebones bullet points, all while being enormously entertaining. That Little Race Thing

Barack the Obamessiah transcended race, didn't he?  Problem is, he seems to have forgotten to bring all his followers along on the magic carpet ride with him.  The Jawa Report brings us this gem:

Prosecutors said Hart, who is black, yelled "'White [expletive], [expletive] McCain--you white police can't do nothing anymore.'" With that, she reached through the window of a squad car and slapped a white male officer in the face, according to Assistant State's Atty. Lorraine Scaduto.

Celita Hart was apparantly pissed at the man for trying to violate her god given right to celebrate Obama's victory by --- firing a gun in downtown Chicago.

Then we have this from Michelle Malkin:

There is a new national slogan/anthem catching on among America's youth. It's a popular rap song, a t-shirt, and a taunting chant.

It is this: "MY PRESIDENT IS BLACK."

Go ahead and Google it. They're blasting it on the streets of Chicago, saying it like a prayer in Durham, singing it on campus, and putting it on their kids' clothes in Harlem.

...

Obama supporter and rapper Young Jeezy, who worked the phone banks for his candidate before Election Day, penned "My President Is Black" in time for the Democrat convention in August and invoked it after Obama's victory.

A sample of the lyrics:

There's a lot more, but it's mostly a bunch of filthy racial garbage.

Finally, Diana West has some things to say about post-racialism vs. Obamamania:

Longing to "escape the stigma of racism," as Steele calls it, white voters became "enchanted" with Obama because their support for him provided evidence and certification of their own now self-evident state of "post-racial" enlightenment.

But, as Steele further explains, there's an inherent contradiction to this unusual, if not historically unique, relationship. "When whites -- especially today's younger generation -- proudly support Obama for his post-racialism, they unwittingly embrace race as their primary motivation. They think and act racially, not post-racially. The point is that a post-racial society ... seduces whites with a vision of the racial innocence precisely to coerce them into acting out of a racial motivation. A real post-racialist ... would not care about displaying or documenting his racial innocence. Such a person would evaluate Obama politically rather than culturally."

For almost two years, Obama has been, in Steele's words, evaluated culturally. This has resulted in reverential media non-coverage and now post-election judgments and metaphors that are already beginning to defy satire. Of course, Barack Obama didn't end the Civil War, isn't the reincarnation of RFK, and benefits from, but didn't bring about, the long-entrenched social changes that facilitated his political rise. As he now heads to the White House, it's crucial that he finally be regarded as a politician, not a messiah, and as a man, not a moral judgment. Otherwise, the cultural juggernaut he seems likely to unleash will be unstoppable.

Every single bit of this glorification of Obama is about race.  It's not about unity, intelligence, overcoming difficulty, or even hope-n-change.  If it was, his race would never have been a factor.  But, we have all seen how race was a HUGE factor in this election, so that idea is ridiculous.  Even when race plainly has nothing to do with anything, it still gets brought in as an automatic defense.  One example is how a couple of (real) reporters simply asked the Obamessiah about his Marxist economic plan and *GASP!* asked him to explain how it's not Marxist.  The response: you're banned.  And, you're also a racist.

Get used to it - you've got four more years to go.
