More Proof Of Global Warming

You know me, I'm a big fan of global warming.  Here are some more stories that prove it must be for real...

Las Vegas
It is being called the snowiest December that Las Vegas has ever seen. Officially, 3.6 inches of snow was recorded.

The winter storm dumped more than a foot of fresh snow at the Las Vegas Ski and Snowboard Resort on Mt. Charleston.

The National Weather Service says this is the most snow Southern Nevada has seen in nearly 30 years and it caused some major problems.

The Clark County School District has closed schools for Thursday. Students and teachers do not have to report to school, but the district says all administrators, 12-month employees, and office staff should report to work as usual. Nye County schools are also closed.

New York
A blast of wintry weather across the U.S. that left a record-breaking snowfall in Las Vegas is threatening to drop as much as 8 inches of sleet and snow on New York City tomorrow and disrupt travel across the country.

A winter storm watch is in effect for the region that includes New York, the National Weather Service said in a statement on its Web site. The snow may start falling as early as 4 a.m. before switching to a mix of snow, sleet and rain after midday, with precipitation tapering off about midnight.

"Significant" snow, sleet and ice may accumulate and make travel difficult, the weather service said. The storm will move across the Ohio Valley today, bringing heavy snow to the Midwest and Canada before reaching the East Coast and passing south of Long Island tomorrow.

Chicago
As a violent snowstorm that is expected to dump more than a foot of snow  bears down on Chicago, the state is issuing a stern warning to motorists: Stay off the roads unless travel is absolutely necessary.

Illinois Department of Transportation officials will be holding a news conference later today to discuss its plans to battle what is shaping up to be one of the worst snowstorms in recent memory.

CBS 2's Ed Curran reports the snowstorm is making slow progress from the southwest to the Chicago area. . A winter storm warning has been issued for most of the Chicago area – including Cook County, the collar counties and much of Northwest Indiana. Some areas south of Chicago are under an ice storm warning.

California
Snow snarled major mountain highways and even dusted Malibu on Wednesday as a cold storm hit parts of California. One person was killed by a wind-related helicopter crash, and an overflowing river on the U.S.-Mexico border led to the evacuation of nearly two dozen people, rescues of about 50 horses and the deaths of four others.

Styming thousands of commuters and travelers, snow shut Interstate 15 over 4,190-foot Cajon Pass east of Los Angeles and roads through the San Gabriel Mountains connecting metropolitan Los Angeles to the commuter suburbs of Palmdale and Lancaster in the high desert to the north.

Interstate 5, a major trucking and travel route connecting Southern California with the Central Valley and Northern California, stayed open over 4,144-foot Tejon Pass most of the day, with on-and-off Highway Patrol escorts, then finally was shut down in the afternoon as conditions deteriorated. Massive backups developed below all the passes.

Everywhere
There will be no caboose to a train of storms crossing the country prior to Christmas. Three more storms will travel from the West Coast to the Northeast in the days leading up to the holiday.

Each storm will produce substantial snow and soaking rain over the Midwest and Northeast. A layer of ice will be sandwiched in between.

Global warming at work, my friends.  Global warming at work.

There's my two cents.
