Barack Obama: Prosecuting Americans, Releasing Terrorists

An action whose shock-worthiness is matched only by its vile grotesqueness:

I stand (well, sit) in awe: I never believed that even this administration would have the huevos to immolate itself upon the altar of terrorists’ rights. But it appears that the liberal imperative to damn America and support every anti-American movement in the world — even al-Qaeda! — is stronger than any sense of political or national survival, no matter how feeble:

Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. has decided to appoint a prosecutor to examine nearly a dozen cases in which CIA interrogators and contractors may have violated anti-torture laws and other statutes when they allegedly threatened terrorism suspects, according to two sources familiar with the move.

Holder is poised to name John Durham, a career Justice Department prosecutor from Connecticut, to lead the inquiry, according to the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the process is not complete.

I think they’ve stepped into it; Eric Holder is going to pull the trigger. He’s actually going to — let’s be brutally frank here — prosecute CIA agents for violating the rights of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, Abu Zubaidah, and Abd Nashiri… presumably their right to keep silent about current pending terrorist attacks against the United States.

This was so far out of line that even Leon Panetta -- a former Clinton hack, and a far Lefty himself -- flew into a rage and threatened to resign over it. Hit the link for much, much more, including a discussion of the three most likely possible outcomes and the potential electoral results of these actions. This is going to get very, very ugly unless Obama pulls the plug.

Even worse, on the very same day this is announced, Obama releases a terrorist.

And, Obama is continuing the Rendition program that was soooo eeeevil under George W. Bush.

Here's a brief interview on the subject from just a few days ago:

Um...Mr. President, what was that you were saying about the CIA looking over their shoulders and lawyering up?

The always candid Dick Cheney offered this statement in response to Obama's shameful actions:
The documents released Monday clearly demonstrate that the individuals subjected to Enhanced Interrogation Techniques provided the bulk of intelligence we gained about al Qaeda. This intelligence saved lives and prevented terrorist attacks. These detainees also, according to the documents, played a role in nearly every capture of al Qaeda members and associates since 2002. The activities of the CIA in carrying out the policies of the Bush Administration were directly responsible for defeating all efforts by al Qaeda to launch further mass casualty attacks against the United States. The people involved deserve our gratitude. They do not deserve to be the targets of political investigations or prosecutions. President Obama’s decision to allow the Justice Department to investigate and possibly prosecute CIA personnel, and his decision to remove authority for interrogation from the CIA to the White House, serves as a reminder, if any were needed, of why so many Americans have doubts about this Administration’s ability to be responsible for our nation’s security.
Cheney is right: it is now crystal clear that Barack Obama and his administration are far more concerned with retribution upon George W. Bush and in criminalizing anyone who doesn't agree with them than with protecting the American people. If there were any doubts before, this should kick them all to the curb.

There's my two cents.
