And yet...check out the latest tax increase the Democrats have proposed:
A bill up for consideration in the U.S. House seeks to change the way highway users are taxed to fund transportation. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty certain that there are at least a few people who earn less than $250,000 a year who drive a car every now and then.
Rep. Earl Blumenauer, D-OR, introduced a bill that would establish a federal pilot program to study vehicle miles traveled, or VMT, as a possible supplement to or possible replacement for the current per-gallon fuel tax. The bill, HR3311, does not specify what would happen to the fuel tax if a VMT program were established.
Hopefully this is one tax increase that won't get passed into law, but shouldn't the fact that they're even proposing it be cause for concern?
There's my two cents.
