A poster popped up in L.A. over the weekend that has caused quite a stir:
Given that Heath Ledger's final role as the most recent Joker still gives me the creeps -- it was a masterful performance -- I certainly understand why. I'm sure you can, too. Almost immediately the leftwing mainstream media (sorry for the redundancy there) began their all-too-predictable bellowing about raaaaaaacism and disrespect and dangerousness. But, it doesn't take much looking to introduce this pot to its very own kettle:
That's right, the very same folks who are shrieking about poor widdle Bawack Obama-wama's face being portrayed as the Joker also happen to be the ones who portrayed George W. Bush's face as the Joker, Hitler, and Satan (or at least failed to condemn such practices by their fellow liberals).
L.A. Weekly got their panties in a really severe bunch, writing:
Blog posters to such online sites as American Thinker and Tammy Bruce are predictably in the throes of political orgasm. This coming from the very same L.A. Weekly that celebrated the eBay auction of an actual noose around an actual effigy of Sarah Palin last election day:
... It has a bit of everything to appeal to the drunk tank of California conservatism: Obama is in white face, his mouth (like Ledger's Joker's) has been grotesquely slit wide open and the word "Socialism" appears below his face. The only thing missing is a noose.
Just for good measure, they must have forgotten that they posted this picture of Bush-as-vampire just last year:
So, I think it's safe to say that L.A. Weekly's righteous indignation at the Obamajoker poster falls pretty flat. In all seriousness, though, it begs the question: are they upset about the defacing of the Obamessiah's holy countenance, or because the poster calls him a socialist? Tough call.
Nevertheless, this whole episode does illustrate a great deal about the American Left, doesn't it?
There's my two cents.
