The resignation of White House environmental adviser Van Jones has revealed a lapse in the administration's vetting procedures that, nearly eight months into his tenure, delivered President Obama with an unwelcome distraction as he begins an important week on behalf of his health-care reform initiative.
As we discussed, Jones simply became too toxic. More correctly, his completely toxic background and views simply became public. If Obama had left him in place, he would have then tarnished The One Himself, so...under the bus he went!
On a side note, isn't it interesting how anything negative -- such as the fact that Obama's vetting is either just as radical as Jones and sees nothing wrong with people like Jones dictating American policy, or being so hideously inept that they couldn't find any of this in Jones' background -- is merely a 'distraction'? Seems to me that something like corrupt or incompetent vetting is kind of a big deal. I mean, who else could be hiding in plain sight in the White House? Tax cheats? Israel haters? Flaming racists?
Nah, surely not. And besides, even asking the question would just be another 'distraction'.
There's my two cents.
PS - By the way, today will see very limited posting. I assume most of you will have the day off like me, so enjoy it!
