First, an ad from the McCain campaign that solidly attacks Obama's tax-and-spend policies:
A Fox report on the part played by Democrat Barney Frank, who just happens to be one of the most prominent leaders in 'fixing' the problem now:
The chances that this guy is going to fix anything is...well, let's be charitable and say they're not very good. This video also shows some Republicans speaking out about the problem years ago.
Here's another McCain ad that hits hard because...we'll, you'll see:
Here's another ad that I would have ignored, except for the fact that Obama has taken some shots at McCain's recent statements about the fundamentals of our economy still being strong:
For a puke-inducing experience, watch this video of what appears to be billed as a spontaneous neighborhood gathering of children singing praises to the Obamessiah:
Um...isn't singing praises to the leader something that's done in communist countries...? Oh yeah, that's right. Obama is a Marxist, so that works out just fine.
In a response to some hate mail after mocking this video, Jonah Goldberg writes the following:
No doubt due to some leftwing rapid response, I'm getting deluged with this clip from some documentary called "Jesus Camp" in which kids appear to be praying to Bush. A few quick points:
1. Yes, that stuff ain't my cup of tea either.
2. But, the kids are not in fact worshiping Bush. They're praying for him.
3. And most important, the clip and the activity it shows wasn't part of any campaign effort. The Bush campaign didn't use glassy-eyed kids in a messianic P.R. stunt to promote their candidate, nor did any affiliated outreach group. Meanwhile, that is precisely what the Obama camp is doing — with the active support of the head of NBC, the parent company of MSNBC by the way. The analogy doesn't work at all. And, for those lefty-readers who think the analogy does work, they should be ashamed of the fact that their candidate is in fact doing the same thing. Again: objectively, it's not the same thing, but if you're going to email me the Jesus camp video as some sort of gotchya, that is in no way, shape or form a defense of the Obama Youth video. It is, on your own terms, an indictment of it. If you want to defend the Obama Youth video, defend it. I'd like to see you folks try.
Oh and for giggles: imagine the shrieks and howls if Rupert Murdoch had anything to do with a Children of the Corn for McCain project like this.
Update: Correction!
It's a different Jeff Zucker.
I regret the error. I stand by the revulsion at the video.
Update II: From a reader:
The kids are praying for Bush because he's the President, not because he's Bush. They could/would just as earnestly pray that Bill Clinton, or Barack Obama would appoint judges who would overturn Roe v. Wade. (God CAN work miracles, after all.)
In our (Mo. Synod Lutheran — ask Mark Hemingway about it) church, we pray for the President just about every Sunday (we don't chant and lay on hands and stuff — heck we don't even clap for the choir); we've done it for every President I can remember, which would be about LBJ onward. As Lutherans, we also don't pray for particular policy decisions, more the generic "Thy Will Be Done" thing; but in any event, this prayer (in the clip) was a prayer that the President would DO the right thing, not a prayer to the Man who IS the Right Thing.
Here's a story from Malignant Liberal Idiocy (hat tip Right Truth) that really underscores the how absurd it is that so many people are voting for Barack Obama despite his numerous glaring deficiencies and question marks:
I wish I could support Barack Obama in this election season. The reason for this wish is relatively simple, convenience.
Imagine how much easier life would be if you possessed the loose grasp on reality that would allow you to support Barack Obama. Imagine how simple your daily life would be if you cared only for yourself and viewed the rest of the world in terms of what it could give you. Imagine the liberating sense of being moral-free, as one might need to be in order to support Barack Obama. Imagine what a relief it would be to not care about the march toward an Orwellian vision of society as would be expedited by Barack Obama.
I’ve long thought that to be a liberal, one must be evil, stupid, or a combination of the two. The Obama candidacy and terrifying level of mindless support he enjoys serves to reinforce my original beliefs. Some poor souls actually believe that Obammunism would be a good thing for the common citizens of this nation. Some hope to enjoy power and control over the common citizens under Obammunism. Others don’t care enough to be informed.
Think about the mental state of the Obamoron that cheers when he “y’ohs” (his contraction of “you know”) about the tax breaks to the wealthy and the redistribution of “windfall profits” to “American families.” It must be nice to have such a narrow view of the horizon that one could support such a notion. A thinking person would realize that penalizing producers and employers will reduce production and employment. An Obamoron sees only that “evil” businesses are getting punished for success and gives no thought to anything more. A related source of relief would be to be so unencumbered by thought that one doesn’t see the ridiculous hypocrisy of bemoaning the profits of productive business and celebrating the profits of useless “entertainment” ventures (music, movies, and television.)
Think about the freedom enjoyed by the people that could be so clueless that they believe that only by increasing the size and scope of government can we be saved from today’s biggest problems, while ignoring the fact that the biggest of our problems are caused by overreaching government involvement. It must be comforting to look to the government to meet an increasing number of an individuals needs without regard for the snowballing effect of growing government control. Medicine would be best distributed by a benevolent government. Education would be better delivered by a “progressive” government. Wages would best be dictated by an all-knowing government. The weather would best be controlled by an all-powerful government.
I personally believe it would be fabulous to have a mind so dull that I could ignore Bill Ayers, Jeremiah Wright, Saul Alinsky, and ACORN. I would be relieved to have such a shallow conscience that I could disregard Barack Obama’s active role in blocking the “Born Alive Infant Protection Act” in The Illinois Senate.
I wish I could support Barack Obama… but I can’t. I am not capable of turning off my mind, ejecting my morals, and dulling my desire for liberty!
Finally, here's a major bombshell...the Democrats covering up their incompetence on the Fannie/Freddie mess via Right Truth:
Let's recap. You've just watched and listened to a parade of Democrats doing their damnedest to avoid any sort of scrutiny of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and insisting that there was absolutely nothing wrong. When viewed from the context of today, what does that say about them? It's awfully hard to argue with their own words, don't you think?
There's my two cents.
