You know me, I'm not given to sensationalism, especially in relation to natural disasters. But, from all I've been seeing and hearing about Hurricane Ike, it's bad news. Though it's only a Category 2 hurricane right now, the winds are only part of the problem. For example, it is still a couple hundred miles off the coast of Texas, but already some coastal cities have been swamped with flooding several feet deep. Many areas have been evacuated, some by order from city leaders.
If reports are to be believed, low areas like Galveston are in danger of being totally submerged, and certain death is predicted for people who aren't getting out of key areas.
Though much damage is pretty much a given, we hope that the loss of life is kept to a minimum. I have no doubt that Americans from all over the country will rally to help the cleanup efforts that are already being organized. Please pray for those in the affected areas, as this looks to get much worse before it passes.
There's my two cents.
