The Liberal Left: Keepin' It Classy

Here are a few more proofs of the level of class we've come to expect from the liberal Left.

To start things off, we visit the world of professional basketball:

Josh Howard's decision-making has again come into question after he was filmed disrespecting the national anthem.

And the Mavericks are taking steps to help Howard and their other players avoid controversy in the future.

In a video posted on YouTube, the swingman is shown at Allen Iverson's charity flag football game in July. When the national anthem is being sung, various participants are shown mugging for the camera. When the camera gets to Howard, he says: " 'The Star-Spangled Banner' is going on. I don't celebrate this [expletive]. I'm black."

Howard goes on to make a difficult-to-discern comment that includes a reference to Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.

Hmmm...  You know, as an isolated incident, this should probably be shrugged off as a single idiot making an idiotic statement.  But, when you combine it with other shows of racial alter-patriotism such as substituting "Life Ev'ry Voice and Sing" -- the 'black' national anthem -- for the "Star-Spangled Banner" at an official government gathering, or the Rev. Jeremiah Wright's lunatic ravings about AIDS being created by the U.S. government to kill off blacks (and many other statements), one can't help but wonder if there is some kind of anti-American counter culture movement going on in the black community.  Especially when you consider the history of the black community supporting the Democrat liberal Left in overwhelming numbers, one also can't help but wonder if perhaps all those statements from Democrat leaders about how America sucks and America is broken aren't having a similar effect, too.

Nevertheless, that's a generalization.  Now let's move on to some more specific instances of classiness.  A Canadian columnist offers these kind words about Sarah Palin:

[An] incendiary column by Toronto-based writer Heather Mallick appeared on the CBC News site on Sept. 5, after the close of the Republican National Convention. On the same day, Britain's Guardian newspaper published another column by Mallick in which she trashed Palin's home state of Alaska as a "frontier state full of drunks and crazy people."

In the CBC story, Mallick wrote that John McCain's running mate "added nothing to the ticket that the Republicans didn't already have sewn up, the white trash vote."

She proceeded to write that the Alaska governor "has a toned-down version of the porn actress look favored by this decade's woman, the overtreated hair, puffy lips and permanently alarmed expression."

She also questioned why the Palins were allowing Levi Johnston — 17-year-old Bristol Palin's boyfriend and father of her unborn baby — into the family.

"What normal father would want Levi 'I'm a f—-n' redneck' Johnson prodding his daughter?" Mallick asked.

And here's a lovely little item: Sandra Bernhard warns Sarah Palin that should stay away from Manhattan lest she get 'gang-raped' by some of Bernhard's big black brothers.  Is that a threat, or just mean and nasty?  Does it matter?  I suppose it does to the Secret Service...

Anyway, I'm kind of curious how it is the Left that thinks of itself as being the tolerant bunch, and yet they have no problem throwing around statements like this.  That's not very tolerant, if you ask me.  I'm sure Bernhard is just trying to be helpful.  I wonder if the Secret Service investigators will believe her.

But even the Obamessiah's wife, Michelle Obama, has gotten involved in the cutting remarks in a recent campaign stop:

Michelle Obama says voters need to decide this election by examining the issues, not because they like a candidate or think ``she's cute.''

Obama spoke in Charlotte on Thursday morning at a women's round-table on economic issues. The crowd roared at her remark disparaging voters who might cast a ballot because of a woman's looks, a clear jab at Republican vice presidential pick Sarah Palin.

Obama tried to clarify her remark with a smile, saying she was talking about herself.

Uh...okay.  While Obama's statement about lipstick on a pig maintained at least a facade of looking innocent when put into context, Michelle is -- like Hillary Clinton compared to Bill -- not nearly as good a liar.  This was an obvious dig at Palin.  She knew it, the crowd knew it, anyone with a quarter of a working brain knows it.  Maybe this is the first time she's ever been proud of looking cute...or maybe she's just jealous.  Regardless, it was a low-class dig from a low-class woman.

All I can say is keep it up.  The Left hasn't learned the first rule of holes: when you're in one, stop digging.

Here is your liberal Left, keepin' it classy.

There's my two cents.
