Every vote (from illegal immigrants) must be counted!
The Obama Administration and Census Bureau will not be asking persons for proof of citizenship for the 2010 census.First thought: hm, isn't it amazing that New York and California are already the two biggest blue states in the country? Texas is clearly red, but Florida is pretty even. What do you think such a count of illegals would do to Texas and Florida? Second thought: since when is Obama worried about anything being 'too expensive'?
They say it would be "too expensive" and would "scuttle any chance that the census could be done on time."
NOLA.com reported:The Commerce Department and Census Bureau declared Tuesday that an amendment by Sen. David Vitter, R-La., to require the 2010 census to ask all persons their citizenship and immigration status would scuttle any chance that the census could be done on time and would cost taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars.
U.S. Sen. David Vitter portrays his amendment as an attempt to keep Louisiana from losing one of its seven congressional districts in the coming reapportionment. The warning came even as the Senate Democratic leadership sought to head off a vote on the Vitter amendment to the Commerce, Justice, Science Appropriations bill. ...
The decennial census, required by the Constitution to count all "persons," is used for the purposes of congressional apportionment and legislative redistricting. The result is that places with more people — regardless of their status — get more representation.
Or as Vitter put it in floor debate on his amendment last week, "States that have large populations of illegals would be rewarded for that. Other states, including my home state of Louisiana, would be penalized."
Vitter said that in addition to Louisiana, the states of Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania and South Carolina "would lose out." He challenged the senators from those states, "if you vote against this amendment, then you are voting against the interests of your state."
By far the biggest winner under the existing system is California, followed by Texas, New York and Florida.
And never mind the part about mindlessly following these instructions despite ignoring people who are here illegally.
He said what?
The point here is not that Limbaugh was denied the chance to be an NFL owner, nor even that the NFL has now been outed as a thoroughly political organization. The thing here that galls me is that the political firestorm that killed Limbaugh's involvement was based on racial quotes that were completely fabricated. In 20+ years of broadcasting, he never said the words attributed to him, nor anything remotely close to them. Someone literally made up a quote supposedly from him about slavery and posted it to Wikipedia, and that's what the left-wing media and Rev. Al Sharpton continuously cited as justification for calling Limbaugh a racist.Rush Limbaugh was dropped from the group bidding to buy the St. Louis Rams.
ESPN reported, via HotAir:Conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh was dropped from a group bidding to buy the St. Louis Rams.
ESPN's Adam Schefter first reported the story on Wednesday.
Limbaugh was to be a limited partner in a group headed by St. Louis Blues chairman Dave Checketts. Checketts said in a statement Wednesday that Limbaugh's participation had become a complication in the group's efforts and the bid will move forward without him.
Checketts told the Associated Press he will have no further comment on the bid process.
John at Power Line offered this observation:
A final observation, perhaps too obvious to require saying: It's no coincidence that Democratic Party outlets like CNN had to dredge up fake quotes to make their case. Nothing Rush actually said would do the trick, even though he's been on the radio three hours a day, five days a week, for more than twenty years. That really tells you all you need to know.
Limbaugh's a big boy and can handle this; he knows he's going to be targeted at whatever he does. The thing that bothers me most here is that this could happen to anyone. The real question is: if you lack the deep pockets and 3 hours of daily broadcast time that Limbaugh has to clear his name, how do you fight this sort of blatant lie? And how do you combat this sort of mindless media frenzy when they're unwilling to even make one whole mouse click to verify their sources?
You'd better think about that, now that we're in the Obama era. It's standard operating procedure.
The nanny state enters your living room
The influential lobby group Consumer Electronics Assn. is fighting what appears to be a losing battle to dissuade California regulators from passing the nation's first ban on energy-hungry big-screen televisions.
On Tuesday, executives and consultants for the Arlington, Va., trade group asked members of the California Energy Commission to instead let consumers use their wallets to decide whether they want to buy the most energy-saving new models of liquid-crystal display and plasma high-definition TVs.
"Voluntary efforts are succeeding without regulations," said Doug Johnson, the association's senior director for technology policy. Too much government interference could hamstring industry innovation and prove expensive to manufacturers and consumers, he warned.
But those pleas didn't appear to elicit much support from commissioners at a public hearing on the proposed rules that would set maximum energy-consumption standards for televisions to be phased in over two years beginning in January 2011. A vote could come as early as Nov. 4.
I guess this makes sense, given that liberals also want to control your remote control.
Don't fly the flag
Oregon liberals have banned the US flag from an apartment complex.Un. Real.
They say "someone might get offended."
KATU reported:At the Oaks Apartments in Albany, the management can fly their own flag advertising one and two bedroom apartments – but residents have been told they can't fly any flags at all.
Jim Clausen flies the American flag from the back of his motorcycle. He has a son in the military heading back to Iraq, and the flag – he said – is his way of showing support.
"This flag stands for all those people," said Clausen, an Oaks Apartment resident. "It stands for the people that can no longer stand – who died in wars. That's why I fly this flag."
But to Oaks Apartment management, Clausen said, the American flag symbolizes problems.
He was told to remove the red, white and blue from both of his rides, or face eviction.
"It floored me," he said. "I can't believe she was saying what she was saying."
Even long-time residents like Sharron White, who has flown a flag on her car for eight years, has been told to take it down.
White said management told her that "someone might get offended."
And yet, despite all of this mindless following of the liberal line of thinking, Barack Obama says that Republicans are the ones who 'do what they're told'. Riiiiiiight. Just ask MSNBC how all of that works.
There's my two cents.
