More Senate Outrageousness

Sorry for the absence.  Hopefully things can fall back into something resembling a normal routine now.

The most urgent thing I wanted to pass along to you at the moment is that the Senate is currently debating yet another economic stimulus package.  Michelle Malkin has the details:

The Senate is on its way to passing yet another massive mortgage boondoggle. It would pile billions of dollars more in stimulus-palooza spending on top of the $152 billion already passed into law and radically expand government's role in meddling with private contracts. Last night, members voted on a cloture motion to push forward with the housing measure giving judges the authority to alter mortgage contracts and give them the power to cut interest rates on troubled subprime mortgage loans–in addition to doling out hundreds of millions of dollars for "counseling" that would go to left-wing activist groups like ACORN and La Raza (see also my column today on housing entitlement thug Bruce Marks.)

Sadly, only ONE Senator voted against this - Bunning of Kentucky.  All three presidential candidates skipped the vote.

This is pure political, election-year stupidity, which is the only reason you have almost unanimous bipartisan support.  I'll summarize briefly.  The first stimulus was roundly criticized by people who actually know economics (Congress does not) for being too small and too slow.  After all, how much could $150 billion stimulate a $13 trillion economy after a delay of half a year?  Zip.  It's purely an effort by Congress and the White House to make voters think they're 'working hard' to protect them.  In reality, they just added another $150 billion to our national deficit right in the middle of an economic slowdown.  And now they're coming back for round two.  On top of that, this bill grants even more power to judges who have already shown an astounding ability to re-write the law from the bench according to their own personal agendas; now they're going to be allowed to re-write signed financial agreements that affect citizens' mortgages!  On top of that, this bill will send millions of dollars to Leftists who are devoted to perpetrating fraud on elections and preventing the security of our nation's borders!

What about this bill is a good thing?!

The Senate is debating this bill right now.  Call them and tell them you won't accept this bill, and that you will be watching their vote.

There's my two cents.
