Oh, The Hypocrisy!

Wow, it's amazing how much hypocrisy is out there!  Check it out...

How long have we been hearing about how we have a moral duty to support biofuels and ethanol development in order to save the planet?  Hm.  Right Truth reports on these recent U.N. statements:

"The mass diversion of the North American grain harvest into ethanol plants for fuel is reaching its political and moral limits."

The UN says it takes 232kg of corn to fill a 50-litre car tank with ethanol. That is enough to feed a child for a year. Last week, the UN predicted "massacres" unless the biofuel policy is halted.

Huh...!  So, let's see...first it was our moral duty to support ethanol because it could save the world, and now it's our moral duty to stop ethanol because real people are dying.  Huh...!  Can we logically assume, then, that maybe all of us conservatives who have been fighting the global warming idiocy -- because it will accomplish nothing other than harming real people -- may have been right all along?  Huh...!

Moving on, why don't we take a look at our schools.  From Michelle Malkin:

A playground pastime is getting a timeout this spring at a McLean elementary school.

Robyn Hooker, principal of Kent Gardens Elementary School, has told students they may no longer play tag during recess after determining that the game of chasing, dodging and yelling "You're it!" had gotten out of hand. Hooker explained to parents in a letter this month that tag had become a game "of intense aggression."

Wow, this is such great preparation for the real world!  That school is squelching physical activity, competition, and, oh yeah, preventing kids from being kids.  Just another example of schools fixing the wrong problem.  Malkin sums up how this preparation will serve these kids in the future:

The public schools are breeding a generation of bubble-wrapped ninnies who can't do math, are terrorized by the honor roll, and prance around peace trees while the children of jihad perform preschool suicide bomber training exercises.

Yeah, we're in great shape to take on our future.  She also points out that this sort of squelching is precisely what results in the supreme panziness that Jimmy Carter has been displaying lately.

And that brings us to the next example of hypocrisy.  Jimmy Carter keeps assuring us that the radical, murderous, terrorist group Hamas is willing to negotiate to achieve peace with Israel.  Unfortunately for him, even the left-leaning MSM has poked a serious hole in that assurance, pointing out that Hamas leaders have called Mahmoud Abbas (the Palestinian leader) a 'traitor' for negotiating with Israel at all, which is essentially a death threat.  Carter is a pitiful example of a former President, and is bringing shame, ridicule, and stupidity upon America (not to mention encouraging those who have publicly pledged to kill us and our allies).

Next up is the latest example of hypocrisy-by-omission from the MSM.  A left-leaning newspaper publisher recently used the "N" word, and there was nary a peep.  Boy, I bet Imus, Duane "Dog" Chapman, Michael Richards, and any other prominent figure who has had a major career tank because of similar racial slurs would have loved that treatment.  Clearly, racism is only racism if it's perpetrated by someone who doesn't drink the Leftist Kool-aid.

And how about the recent news that Bush has given up on our free trade deal with Colombia?

President Bush said yesterday that a trade agreement with Colombia is "dead" unless House Democrats agree to hold a vote on the pact.

Never mind the fact that Colombia is the only major ally of the U.S. in the region, and the fact that they are in direct conflict with Hugo Chavez, who has essentially declared economic war against the U.S.  Never mind the fact that Colombia is pro-American and has drastically reduced crime and corruption by implementing conservative policies.  Never mind the fact that this deal would open up new markets for American goods, which would help the American economy and add production and manufacturing jobs for Americans.  None of that matters to Nancy Pelosi - she just doesn't want to give Bush any victory at all, even if it costs the American people.

And how about that pesky little illegal immigration issue?  I'm sure I'm going to tick off someone by posting about this, but facts are facts, and hypocrisy is hypocrisy.  The L.A. Times reports on Ana Puente, who was an infant when she was brought into the country illegally.  She has had three liver transplants, paid for by the American taxpayer.  When she reached the age of 21, her state-funded insurance coverage expired.  So, what did she do?  She notified U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services that she was in the country illegally, and presto!  She was granted a fourth liver transplant.  WHAT??  Now, it's one thing to get $4 prescription drug medication on the taxpayer's dime, but get this [emphasis mine]:

The average cost of a liver transplant and first-year follow-up is nearly $490,000, and anti-rejection medications can run more than $30,000 annually, according to the United Network for Organ Sharing, which oversees transplantation nationwide.

Donor livers are also in scarce supply. In California, nearly 3,700 people are on a waiting list for livers, according to the network.

So, this girl has sucked literally millions of dollars out of the pockets of American citizens by herself, and she has taken three (soon to be four) livers that could have gone to Americans who have been paying taxes for the right to be in the line ahead of illegal aliens for life-saving medical care!  Am I the only one who doesn't get this total lack of priority and backwardness?

Now, for those of you who feel your righteous anger boiling over at me, I'll clarify: am I saying we should should deny someone medical care because they are here illegally?  No.  A person is a person.  What I am saying is that America cannot pay for everything for everyone in the entire world.  There are limits.  It is precisely because of those limits that we must prioritize.  And, to me, American citizens should receive a higher priority than a non-citizen who is here illegally.  If you can't see that, then I hope you never have a medical crisis of your own.  You or your family member may get stuck waiting in line behind an illegal alien (not to mention the fact that you'd have to actually pay for your own medical care), and where would your righteous indignation be then?

Finally, we have another example of illegal immigration policies working too well.  Since Arizona implemented their employer sanctions, we've seen a constant stream of sob stories about how illegal immigrants just can't find work, and decide to go back home.  WOW!!!  That's exactly what we conservatives have been saying for years!!!  Of course, Newsweek thinks it's awful.

Never fear, hypocrisy is always near.  Just look for your friendly, neighborhood liberal.

There's my two cents.
