Some Interesting Tidbits

I wanted to pass along some interesting tidbits of information that should give you an indication of just how much energy the Republican base suddenly found.

A Rasmussen Reports poll of the beginning (not current up to this point, mind you) of the RNC shows that the small bump Obama got from the DNC has already vanished. The candidates are within 1-2% again, right where they were before either convention began. What remains to be seen is how much of an additional bump McCain will get once the post-RNC polling numbers start coming out. It may not be significant, but if it is we can expect the world to end...no, wait, that's not true. But it will be earth-shattering for the Obamessiah and the Democrat party!

Next up is this AP report showing that Palin may have actually outdone Obama in terms of TV viewership, depending on how the numbers are calculated. Even worse, preliminary numbers are now indicating that even John McCain got more viewers than the Obamessiah did! That could change when everything is tabulated, of course, but the point is that for both McCain and Palin to even come close to -- let alone beat -- the ratings of the MSM's chosen candidate has got to be incredibly disheartening to them, and troubling for their future prospects.

One indication of how much trouble they're in is that Obama has asked Hillary Clinton to help him reign in the massive defections in the female vote. Some of the choicest excerpts from the New York Times, along with a translation:
Senator Barack Obama will increasingly lean on prominent Democratic women to undercut Gov. Sarah Palin and Senator John McCain, dispatching Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton to Florida on Monday and bolstering his plan to deploy female surrogates to battleground states, Obama advisers said Thursday.
Translation: Obama's not quite the uniter that he says he is.
“What McCain has done with Governor Palin’s nomination is aim right at a demographic that Obama needs to address quickly: noncollege-educated women,” said Mike McCurry, a former spokesman in the Clinton White House. “They need to maximize Biden’s ability to reach out to them, but at the end of the day, it is Obama who has to get that very, very critical group.”
Translation: we need to sucker the stupid women, and fast!
Advisers to Mrs. Clinton said that she stood ready to help the Obama-Biden ticket, but they urged the campaign not to overestimate the impact Mrs. Clinton could have, noting that she had other commitments this fall, like campaigning and raising money for Senate candidates.
Translation (from Clinton): I told you so! I told you so! I told you so!

It looks like Clinton is playing the 2012 game - sure, she'll help him as much as she can, but she'd rather have him lose so she can sweep in four years from now to be the Democrat savior.

Finally, here's another addition to the Us Weekly cover story. Enjoy this little interview with one of the editors as he attempts to lamely explain the cover in the face of a rather indignant female reporter, Megyn Kelly:

Ouch - Kelly tears him a new one!

I've gotta' say that there are times when politics can be immensely entertaining! :)

There's my two cents.
