The 2010 Battle Begins

This is great news:

Only $107 billion is targeted to be spent on projects this year. The CBO projects that the current recession will be over in 2009 without the stimulus anyway. That means nearly a trillion dollars will be spent in 2010 and beyond on Democratic pet projects. There are even reports the spending is to provide funding for a permanent Democratic patronage system.
This is precisely what the GOP needs to be doing right now. They need to reestablish themselves as the party of fiscal responsibility, boil things down to a handful of simple issues and direction statements that are easily tracked and held accountable. Then, they need to beat the dead horse about that handful of issues and make sure that the message gets out.

Pledges like this from Gomert are likely to get a lot of traction, especially as the Democrats continue to spend, spend, spend. There's already a sizable amount of anger throughout the country in the hard-working, normal Americans that make this country tick, and the Democrats are only going to make it worse. If the Republicans can present a viable alternative for 2010, it won't just be a change of power, it'll be a landslide change of power.

It begins now.

There's my two cents.
