Liberals Going For America's Jugular

Bad, bad news:
Majority Leader Harry Reid indicated Wednesday he's willing to move sweeping health care legislation through the Senate with a procedural maneuver that would block a GOP filibuster. The prospect of the controversial tactic has already ignited Republicans' ire, and key Senate Democratic chairmen have said they don't want to do it.

Reid, D-Nev., took a different position on a conference call with reporters.

"I think it's something we need to consider," Reid said.

At issue is a so-called reconciliation bill, which could pass with a simple majority of 51 votes and without Democrats fearing a GOP filibuster. Democrats would struggle to gather 60 votes needed to break a filibuster for something as complex as a plan to meet President Barack Obama's goal of overhauling the nation's health care system to cover 48 million uninsured Americans.

This might happen as early as today.

I've put forward the notion before that there are three legs to an Obama socialization of America: financial, energy, and health care. Any one of those three will spell disaster, two of them will throw America off a very high bridge, and all three will bring a quick end to American relevance and leadership in the world.

Apparently, the radical socialist Democrats are moving for a quick kill before they lose too much public support.

The silver lining here is that it sounds like even Democrats aren't happy about this idea. Given the majorities held in both houses of Congress, those unhappy Dems are literally the only thing that can stop Obama from rolling this plan through. The obvious problem is that the Democrat leadership is notorious for whipping their troops in line when it comes right down to a vote.

Regardless, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if we started hearing some rumblings about the 'urgent' nature of health care coverage, or the 'crisis' of having so many uninsured. It's only a matter of time. Start dialing.

There's my two cents.
