The stimulus law enacted in February promoted the purchase of plug-in electric cars by the federal government and the broader market, but a Government Accountability Office (GAO) report released this month says that the use of plug-in electric vehicles will not by itself decrease greenhouse gas emissions.The catch here is the rather obvious elephant in the room that Democrats never seem to want to address: electric cars still have to be plugged in. And, of course, that's going to cause a huge spike in electricity demand.
