Speak Forth On Bailouts And Immigration!

Make your voice heard:

Housing Bailout
Speak forth to the White House on the latest bailout, which passed the House of Representatives:

I've been hearing your opposition to big government subprime mortgage "solutions" for the past nine months, since I first blogged about Hillary's socialist housing bailout plan last August.

Now, the House has passed mammoth new bailouts that essentially achieve Hillary's vision of the nationalization of the housing market.

Now is the time for you to tell President Bush what you've been saying here repeatedly: No, no, no to another massive mortgage boondoggle.

Hold the White House to its veto threat.

If you're angry about this latest bailout bandwagon, you're not alone.

Via LA Land:

California Rep. Kevin McCarthy tells the L.A. Times that his constituent mail on the Barney Frank mortgage rescue plan was running "50 to 1: 'Don't bail these people out.' " McCarthy, a Republican from Bakersfield, voted against the bill.

As the WSJ notes, there are 42 million Americans paying their mortgages on time. More than 20 million households own their homes outright and 35 million people are renting.

It's time for the silent majority to speak up.

Merida Initiative
Speak forth on the White House's shameful efforts to sneak funding for the Merida Initiative into the latest defense bill:

Back in February, I reported on the White House/State Department's $1.4 billion "Merida Initiative," a stimulus/national security package for Mexico.

There's been little congressional oversight since then–let alone awareness-of the plan. Mexico has been arrogantly clamoring for the money, even as it continues to trash America as racist and meddles with our sovereignty.

Rep. John Culberson and Sen. John Cornyn appear to be the only ones in Congress calling out the White House for this move, which would fund border security for Mexico while leaving our own border as porous as the air.

Comprehensive immigration reform
Speak forth on John McCain's newest play for amnesty!  He continues to throw out the term 'comprehensive' in reference to his plans for immigration:

John McCain appeared in the "No-Spin Zone" tonight–and spun, spun, spun his way through a few, scant, superficial questions about immigration.

The GOP's immigration drag queen has completely shed his costume.

Asked whether he would do anything about illegal alien sanctuary cities, he shrugged off the question by muttering that "of course" he didn't approve of them (but was silent on taking any proactive measures to cut off their funding). Having dispensed with that, McCain then quickly gave his new slippery, flip-flop formulation about how we need to "secure the borders" AND have "comprehensive immigration enforcement/" "temporary guest work plan" (translation: amnesty) and "deal with the 12 million people already here" (translation: give them amnesty, DREAM Act, sanctuary, driver's licenses, bank accounts, home loans, etc., etc., etc).

We know what his idea of comprehensive reform is: amnesty, full benefits, and other perks that even American citizens don't get.  Call him on it.  In case you needed another reason to fight this problem, check out this report from Fox News detailing the environmental disaster that is an unintended consequence of illegal immigration:

Government officials and border activists say the garbage dumped in the desert by illegal immigrants and their smugglers is staggering.

And the cleanup is costing taxpayers millions.

In 2006 alone, more than 1.18 million pounds of trash was collected along southern Arizona border, many in the meeting spots where immigrants rest, change clothes and wait to hitch a ride further north with a smuggler.

Arizonia officials have spent approximately $4.4 million over five years to clean up the mess, that continues to build with each crossing. Nearly $1 million was spent for 2007 from a base BLM appropriation.

Get busy, and start dialing!

There's my two cents.
