NRO reports that Missouri Democrat Claire McCaskill recently spoke on the Senate floor with these words: "We are stuck in a situation that is squandering the lives of our bravest, and it is also squandering the future of our nation because of the financial toll it is taking on our budget".
According to these remarks, she seems to be pushing for a rapid retreat from Iraq. Interestingly enough, I spoke with someone from her office earlier this week, and they assured me she is not in favor of any measure that puts Missouri troops in any greater danger. Since any kind of timetable (that is not based on success) will inevitably harm troop morale as well as actually cause more violence in the long run, something doesn't add up.
Playing politics here, Senator?
