Happy Independence Day!

Today is a day that we as Americans celebrate, and rightfully so. But, in our celebrations, let's not forget the true reasons for why we are free and prosperous, nor those who have sacrificed everything to grant and preserve that freedom and prosperity.

The Declaration of Independence is one of the key documents in our nation's history, and deserves a moment of reflection and review today.

Rush Limbaugh's father wrote a speech in December of 2000 that I think is worth reading, too. It's a bit lengthy, but since you probably have the day off today, please take a moment to read about the beginning of our great nation and the men who courageously stepped out in faith for a new nation and a new hope in the world despite grave risk to themselves and their families.

Read here.

Finally, in addition to those who have gone before, let us not forget those who are serving this great nation today, whether at home or abroad. Let us not ignore those brave men and women of the Armed Forces who are putting their lives on the line to guarantee our continued freedom and prosperity. Let us pray for them and their families, for strength, for courage, and for a safe return to that which they protect.

Happy Independence Day!
