Fun and Frivolity: Women, Running, and Cows

***UPDATE: My prettier, smarter, and better half suggested that the wit with which I was attempting to communicate this story didn't come through quite as precisely as I was hoping, so here's a revised version... :)

Reuters reports an odd little story from Pamplona, Spain where women are demanding their own version of the world-famous 'running with the bulls'. Women are allowed to participate in the traditional bull event, but they're apparently now looking for their own run using...cows.

One might question the excitement value in a 'running of the cows' event (I mean, seriously, when was the last time you saw a herd of cows in a ground-pounding, mouth-frothing, raging stampede), but it's a big world and there are lots of ESPN channels.

On perhaps a more significant note, gender equality is a very fine thing, but I would also question the...uh...wisdom...of choosing this particular issue on which
to make a political statement. But, if they really want it, I suppose these Spanish women should have their moment in the sun and their very own chance at being bludgeoned into a pulp without the company of men, whether human or bovine.
