Mitt's Out

At his speech before the CPAC today, Mitt Romney announced that he is formally withdrawing from the GOP race.  This essentially signs, seals, and delivers the nomination to McCain on a silver platter.  His reasoning, as it's being reported, is that he's getting out for the good of the party.

I'm not sure how throwing the reigns of the party to a big-government, anti-conservative wolf in sheep's clothing is 'for the good of the party', but that's something that I'm sure will be explored in depth over the next few months.

Regardless, the irony here is that Romney apparently gave an impassioned speech brilliantly illustrating the problems faced by the country, and how conservative principles can fix every one of them.

Too bad he's not going to be the one to do it.  McCain certainly isn't, either, which means the country will either remain broken or get broken even worse.

There's my two cents.

In your view, is McCain likely to be better or worse than President Bush? On a related note, is Bush considered a conservative?
