As we head into the final couple of hours of primary voting on the East Coast states, I wanted to throw out a warning that the MSM is likely going to begin running stories and news 'updates' that McCain is sweeping the country and is the imminent winner of the day. Since the Democrat race is expected to be pretty much evenly split today, this is mostly intended to influence Republicans, making people who would vote for Romney (or anyone other than McCain) stay home, thinking it's all over.
Don't buy it!
This is precisely what happened in Florida in 2000 - the MSM began calling the state for Gore 11 minutes before the polls even closed in the Florida panhandle, where the Republican concentration is the highest in the state. How many thousands of Republicans stayed home because of those reports? We'll never know for sure, but we can prevent that phenomenon from ever happening again by refusing to be influenced.
The point here is that McCain is likely to win most of the East Coast states, so he's likely to jump out to an early lead this evening. The MSM is going to take that lead and extrapolate it into a sweeping victory throughout the rest of the country despite any actual data supporting that assertion, and despite the polls remaining open for three more hours in the Midwest and West Coast, where Romney is much stronger.
If you plan to vote (no matter who you support), don't ever let ANY media report keep you from doing so. And, let's all wait to have the votes counted before we crown a victor, shall we?
There's my two cents.
