He didn't. In his first visit to the Queen of England, one could say he royally screwed up the gift-giving again.
Before telling you what he gave her, let's play a game. One of the gift sets below is a joke that a conservative commentator 'reported' yesterday in jest, and one of them is what Obama actually presented to the Queen. See if you can figure out which is which:
Gift set #1:
- a signed paperback copy of Dreams of My Father
- a bottle of Johnny Walker Scotch (black label)
- a CD of the Swedish band ABBA's greatest hits
- ten bags of M&Ms with the presidential seal on them
Gift set #2:
- a rare songbook signed by Richard Rodgers
- a video iPod containing:
- pictures and videos from the Queen's 2007 visit to the U.S.
- pictures and videos from the Queen's 1957 visit to the U.S.
- pictures from Obama's inauguration
- recordings of Obama's 2004 DNC speech and inauguration speech
What do you think?
I'm guessing you've got at least a little bit of uncertainty. Doesn't that say something about Obama's ability to conduct foreign policy?
There's my two cents.

PS. Obama gave the Queen gift set #2. But does it really matter...?
