This Is Why America Rocks

I posted earlier today on the piracy of an American-flagged ship by Somali Muslim pirates. Apparently, the American crew has re-taken at least part of the ship, and is in contact with family and authorities:
CBS News is reporting, via LGF:
The crew of a hijacked U.S. cargo ship is in a standoff with Somali pirates after attempting to retake the vessel, military sources told CBS News correspondent David Martin.

The sources told CBS News that crew members overpowered the pirates, taking one into custody, but the hijackers still held the ship’s master hostage. The American crew is in control of at least part of the ship and crew members have been in contact with their families.

There has been no official confirmation regarding the ship’s status.
FOX News has more.
I truly hope that these guys can safely repel the pirates! Not only would it preserve their well-being, but it would also be yet another triumph of the American spirit and willingness to stand and fight, something the rest of the world severely lacks.

Also, I can't help but wonder if this would be a gift-wrapped bailout to the Obama administration from the brave crew of Americans on this ship. Their risk and action would allow him to vote 'present' yet another time, thus avoiding another weakness-displaying foreign policy debacle. I hope I'm wrong, but the fact that a SEAL team hasn't swarmed all over the ship yet seems to lend credence to the idea that there won't be much in the way of significant help to come from the Obama administration. We'll see.

It's amazing to see such a display of heroism and shameful cowardice this close together.

There's my two cents.
