We Can Learn A Lot From A Scorpion

Something that never ceases to amaze me about liberals is that their policies are not based on core principles, so they always eventually come into conflict with themselves.  All it took was one ridiculous activist to get DDT banned in Africa, and now millions of Africans die of malaria every year.  Environmentalists are certain that [the naturally occurring substance] oil is so detrimental to the natural world that liberals are determined to stop using it altogether; as a result, our costs have gone up, our dependence upon hostile enemies has increased, and as a result of our refusal to tap into oil, many other countries with much dirtier processing have happily picked up the slack.  Liberals want amnesty for illegal immigrants so they can work and make a better life for their families while simultaneously lamenting how many American jobs are being lost.  Liberals observed that birds are being preyed upon by feral cats, so in the name of conservation, they exterminated the cats; as a result, the rodent population exploded, the vegetation was devastated, and the birds they were trying to save began to starve.  Every time liberals try to 'help', they end up making things worse.

Liberals want more control over daily life, including what people can eat, what people can drink, what light bulbs people can buy, what kind of car people can drive, the temperature you keep your house, and many other things, even though these restrictions will hit themselves, too.  Liberals almost always want everyone to pay more taxes even though it means paying more themselves (although we know many libs don't pay taxes, so maybe this one's explainable).  It gets especially dangerous on certain issues, like radical Islamic terrorism.  Liberals inexplicably take the side of murderous thugs who torture and behead innocent women and children, refusing to even acknowledge calling them what they are: terrorists.  Never mind the fact that these terrorists are quite clear (and proud) to declare their intentions of killing or converting every non-Muslim into their faith.  So, liberals are, in effect, protecting the tiger and hoping they'll be eaten last.  Well, you know what?  Even if you're eaten last, you're still going to get eaten.

I'm at a loss to explain why liberals insist on doing things that will ultimately hurt themselves.  It makes literally no sense to me.  So, watching all this liberal craziness recently reminded me of a children's story I heard long ago.  I didn't really get the message as a kid, but now it speaks all too clearly to me:

A scorpion, being a very poor swimmer, asked a turtle to carry him on his back across a river.
"Are you mad?" exclaimed the turtle. "You'll sting me while I'm swimming and I'll drown."
"My dear turtle," laughed the scorpion, "if I were to sting you, you would drown and I would go down with you. Now where is the logic in that?"
"You're right!" said the turtle. "Hop on!"
The scorpion climbed aboard and halfway across the river gave the turtle a mighty sting. As they both sank to the bottom, the turtle said, "You said there'd be no logic in your stinging me. Why did you do it?"
"It has nothing to do with logic," he drowning scorpion replied. "It's who I am."

Why do liberals insist upon stupid and ridiculous policies that make things worse for themselves (and everyone else)?  It's who they are.

There's no point in logic or debate with liberals - you can't win because logic and reason have no part in it.  That's why so many debates with liberals degenerate into name-calling and smearing.  Think about it - how often does a liberal fight logic with logic and argument with argument compared to ignoring the facts and arguments to throw insults at their opponent?  I can't remember the last time I saw a liberal finish an argument or debate without an insult.

The only way to prevent liberal idiocy is to beat them at the ballot box so they don't have the opportunity to get their way.  America failed to do that in 2008, so now we're going to see a whole lot of liberal idiocy, even if it hurts themselves.  Unfortunately, it'll hurt the rest of us, too.

There's my two cents.
