Obama: Keepin' It Classy

This really isn't a big shock, but I would hope that seeing it with one's own eyes would reveal what our President is like. Just keepin' it classy, eh, Mr. President?

I've never thought Wanda Sykes was very funny -- an opinion she confirms here -- but now she shows herself to be a crass moron, too. The most startling thing about this episode is that, as Sykes suggests Rush Limbaugh should have kidney failure and die, or perhaps be waterboarded because he's a terrorist, President Obama laughs.
Nice.

Maybe he was just caught off guard in the moment...was that it? You decide:

Sykes admitted the night seemed a bit surreal. "It still hasn't sunk in yet. I haven't absorbed it," she told The Hill about her dinner experience.

But President Obama gave her a thumbs up.

"He told me I did a great job," Sykes said. "The first lady said the same thing. I got a well done from the president, I'm on cloud nine."

When given a chance to apologize for the crudeness of the President, spokesman Robert Gibbs declined to do so, instead dancing around the issue:

Disgusting People, Exhibit A: these are liberals. They suck.

Naturally, the American press covered nicely for The One and ignored the comment entirely. The British press, however, did not:
An editor with Britain's Daily Telegraph who was at the dinner wrote that liberals will give Sykes a pass, since her target was a right-wing talk show host. And he marveled at Obama's response.

"That's way, way beyond reasoned debate or comedy and Obama's reaction to it was astonishing," wrote Toby Harnden. "Imagine if a comedian 'joked' that Obama was a terrorist who was guilty of treason and should be tortured and allowed to die. There would justifiably be an outcry."
It's pretty sad when the European press are the ones who are in touch with reality.

There's my two cents.
