Last Chance On DemCare

Alas, all good things must come to an end, including my vacation.

Without question, a lot has happened on the DemCare front over the past week, and I hope you've been keeping up with it through the links on this blog. Where are we right now? Quite simply, the Democrats are attempting to circumvent democracy and our representative republic form of government, passing a government takeover of almost 20% of the nation without even voting on it! Here's an outstanding 90-second recap:

As we've discussed before, it comes down to this procedural rule in the House where they will vote to 'deem' the Senate DemCare bill to have already passed, then kick it over to the Senate for reconciliation (which may or may not ever happen). There are many, many constitutional questions and legal wrangles yet to happen, but suffice it to say that if anything gets signed into law, it will be vastly more difficult to pull it back out -- by any method -- so it is far better to prevent it from getting signed in the first place. To give you a measure of what's going on now, here is a set of headlines from Drudge:
Boehner asks Pelosi for 'call of the roll' on final vote...
Challenges Could Drag Out Votes...
HATCH WARNS HOUSE: 'If those people think they're only going to vote on this once, they're nuts'...
CATERPILLAR: Bill would cost company $100M -- in the first year alone!
'Expands IRS Power'...
NOONAN: Now for the Slaughter!
House Leaders Work to Defuse 11th-Hour Fight Over Medicare Reimbursements...
SEN. MCCONNELL: More Medicare cuts, more taxes AND taxpayer funded abortion in new bill...
Obama: Our fates are tied...
IMPEACH?
100,000 Calls Per Hour To Congress...
Won't Rule Out Using 'Slaughter' on Immigration Or Other Bills...
BIDEN: 'We're going to control the insurance companies'...
Claims Healthcare Will HELP Stem Democratic Losses in Nov...
CBO: Medicare fix makes it red
RASMUSSEN: OBAMA SLIDES TO 43% APPROVE/56% DISAPPROVE...
What the Democrats are doing is an unprecedented corruption of the Constitution and the constitutional process of passing legislation. Heck, at this point, I wonder why they even bother trying to follow any of the legal rules and processes - they clearly don't care to follow all of them, so why bother at all?

Regardless, here is the bottom line: this is nothing less than a government takeover of the entire American health care system that will result -- whether in a couple years or 10-20, the end result will be the same -- in the annihilation of private insurance, higher health care costs, oppressive taxation, lower quality of health care, the death of medical innovation,
and bureaucrats deciding who gets what treatments and procedures (i.e. death panels). At its heart is eugenics and control of every man, woman, and child in this nation. Everyone will be legally required to participate, with a penalty of stiff fines and possible jail time as the consequences for refusing. The nation will never be the same.

From what I've been reading, the vote on the procedural rule will take place tomorrow (SUNDAY). There are a handful of Dems in the House who have not yet signed on, so they are the key. Pelosi is hammering them all weekend long to support the takeover, and the American people are hammering them to oppose it. They need to hear more from you than from Pelosi.

For an interesting (and scathing) read from a real doctor, check this out (h/t Melekiop). Also, the GOP is making it clear that for any Democrat who votes to allow this abomination to go through, he or she will be held accountable for that vote in every future post he or she will seek. Good. Even better would be to stop this thing before it passes, and still hold them all accountable.

Conservative House Rep Mike Pence:

Now is the time. Pick up the phone and call your Rep, especially if he or she is a Democrat. Tell them you understand that voting for the Slaughter Solution is a vote for the Senate health care reform bill, and that you oppose the bill. Tell them that anyone who votes for either of these violent changes to the fundamental fabric of America will not get your vote in future elections, and will in fact get your active opposition. The only thing stopping this is millions of phone calls, e-mails, and faxes from the American people...and that's the only thing that can win out, so add your voice to the millions of others. Contact info is here.

I leave you with this:

There's my two cents.
