While We Were Trying To Prevent The Government Takeover...

...the Dems were laying the groundwork for their pushback against the inevitable electoral backlash:

President Obama has quietly moved behind the scenes to restore full funding to the radical group ACORN, which was his former employer and legal client.

In a move ignored by the media, OMB director Peter Orszag circulated a directive to federal agencies ordering them to begin funding ACORN again. ACORN is the hyperpartisan lead group in the Health Care for America Now (HCAN) coalition and has long supported a government takeover of the U.S. health care system.

The fiscal floodgates will soon re-open for ACORN despite a congressional ban on funding the activist group that has long been a practitioner of election fraud.

In a March 16 memo Office of Management and Budget (OMB) director Peter Orszag ordered federal agencies to resume funding the group whose employees were caught on hidden camera videos last year condoning and encouraging a variety of crimes including child prostitution and tax evasion.

...

ACORN is under indictment in Nevada for election fraud. Jury selection in set to begin in the summer in Las Vegas.

ACORN is also teetering on the brink of bankruptcy. The New York Times noticed this fact only today and got around to reporting it four months after I reported it right here at TAS.

This comes right on the heels of some preliminary Congressional shenanigans from Senator Lindsey Grahamnesty just a few days ago:

A pair of influential senators presented President Obama with a three-page blueprint for a bipartisan agreement to overhaul the nation’s immigration system, but the proposal’s viability is threatened by politics surrounding the healthcare debate.

Sens. Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), in a 45-minute meeting Thursday in the Oval Office, also asked for Obama’s help in rounding up enough Republican votes to pass an immigration bill this year.

Although details of their blueprint were not released, Graham said the elements included tougher border security, a program to admit temporary immigrant workers and a biometric Social Security card that would prevent people here illegally from getting jobs.

Graham also said the proposal included “a rational plan to deal with the millions of illegal immigrants already in the United States.” He did not elaborate on what the plan would be. But in a recent interview, he suggested that onerous measures were unrealistic.

“We’re not going to mass-deport people and put them in jail, nor should we,” Graham said. “But we need a system so they don’t get an advantage over others for citizenship.”

Sound familiar? It should, because that's precisely what Dems and Reps both were saying just a couple years ago before the American people slapped them down. To be fair, there are reports that, after seeing what Obama and the Dems did with DemCare, Graham is backing off the amnesty track...but you can bet the Dems won't. Remember:
Obama and the Dem leadership is showing no sign of slowing their agenda. Part of this could be because they know they've got a golden opportunity to implement their wildest dreams during this short window of time where they've got super-majorities in Congress. But, I think there's more to it. I think they've got a plan to substantially boost their ranks between now and the 2010 election by tapping two particular groups of people who are already here, already far-Left-leaning, and ready to vehemently join up. Who are they? Illegal immigrants and felons.

America has tried amnesty numerous times since the 1960s. None have worked. Each time, the deal is struck to grant amnesty this 'one last time'...and then we'll secure the borders. And yet, somehow, that border security just never quite happens, and a few years down the road there is another call for amnesty, but the numbers are even greater. Now we're up to over 10 million illegals in the country, by most accounts. Demographics studies show that these people skew vastly to the Left, and support Democrats in huge numbers.

How do you think the addition of 10 million new Democrat voters would go over with Obama and the Ruling Party?
Also remember that the Census is underway, which is the primary vehicle used to divide up federal funding and electoral mapping (thus representation in Congress).

Beware the radical Leftist American government.

There's my two cents.
