Blago, Dems, And Racism

The irony here is so thick you'd have a hard time cutting it with a chainsaw.

Scandal-plagued Gov. Rod Blagojevich of Illinois went ahead and appointed a replacement to fill Barack Obama's vacant Senate seat - former Illinois Attorney General Roland Burris.  This guy is stellar, of course, with career highlights including his refusal to drop the death-penalty prosecution of a man who was cleared via DNA evidence.  Several people resigned over this injustice, and even his own deputy AG was pleading with him to set the innocent man free.  Burris refused since he was running for Governor.

Irony #1: the Democrats are supposed to be the party that stands up for the downtrodden little guy, right?  So why was Burris trying to execute an innocent man for his own political gain?  Hmmm...

Now, while I can certainly understand the Dems in the Senate not wanting to have Burris on board with them, they don't have a choice.  The Governor -- scandal-plagued or not -- has the legal authority to appoint him, and they can't do anything about it.  Despite having absolutely no legal or Constitutional grounds to do so, the Democrats in the Senate have declared that they will not allow Burris to join them in Washington.  In fact, they've even gone so far as to say they would have him physically prevented from entering the Senate chamber by the Sargeant-at-Arms!

Irony #2: the Democrats are supposed to be the ones who follow the rules, right?  Not those eeeeevil Republicans who are always corrupt and cheat.  Hmmm...

Finally, we get to the really fun part.  Democrat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has told Blago to try again, and suggested that Blago pick someone who is...well...not black.  Aside from Burris (who is black), Reid expressed concern over two other candidates that Blago was considering, both of whom are black.  Instead, Reid suggested two whites.

Irony #3: the Democrats are supposed to be the party of minorities, right?  Well, not so in the Senate!  Reid is doing everything he can to keep a black person out of Obama's vacant Senate seat.  Hmmm...

Irony #4: If Reid and the Democrats want to keep Burris out because he is tainted by the Blago scandal, then why isn't Obama tainted by his relationship with Tony Rezko, Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayers, ACORN, or any of the other numerous scandal-plagued/radical people and groups that he has held for decades?  Hmmm...

Once again, it is the Democrats who are the biggest two-faced hypocrites in Washington.

There's my two cents.
