An Historic Occasion

The inauguration of Barack Obama is an historic occasion, to be sure.  But, I think that most people really don't understand most of the real reasons why it is so historic.  Along with his almost-iron-clad Democrat Congress, Obama will probably be able to unleash most anything he wants on this country.  So, let's look at who he is and what he plans to do as our next President.

Barack Obama was the most liberal Senator in the nation, more liberal than any other President in recent memory, if not ever.  Barack Obama brings no legitimate or useful experience to the most powerful job in the world.  Barack Obama is so pro-abortion that he actually killed a bill banning infanticide...multiple times.  Barack Obama has long-standing and close relationships with known America-haters and terrorists.  Barack Obama bought himself the election through fraudulent donors who gave him hundreds of millions of dollars, and through the illegal efforts of a political hack group that was investigated in over a dozen states.  Barack Obama has promised to limit the ability of Americans to buy and own guns per the 2nd Amendment.  Barack Obama has promised to ignore the 1st Amendment and curtail the freedom of speech of anyone who disagrees with him.  Barack Obama has promised to grant amnesty for millions of illegal immigrants despite the overwhelming opposition to the American people (the legal ones).  Barack Obama has promised to gut the American military during the most dangerous time we've seen in decades.  Barack Obama has promised to bankrupt the coal industry and force skyrocketing energy prices.  Barack Obama has promised to bring us the most disastrous health care system ever devised that has failed literally everywhere it has been tried.  Barack Obama has promised to implement economic policies that will result in multiple trillions of dollars in deficits indefinitely even before implementing his promised tax increases.  Barack Obama is a confirmed socialist.  Barack Obama has openly stated that he believes the Founding Fathers' fundamental flaw was that they refused to engage in redistribution, and actually limited the power of the federal government.

Oh, did I mention that he was black, too?  I forgot about that one, but given all this other stuff it hardly seemed important.

For all these reasons, Barack Obama becoming President truly is an historic event - never before have we had a President with such a dim view of America.  As such, I refuse to take part in the collective Obamagasm that is taking place, and I will not lose perspective of what's at stake here.  While I would never wish harm on him or his family, I also do not hope for his political success, nor do I subscribe to his vision of hope-n-change.  If I did, that would mean that I hope he succeeds in accomplishing all the things mentioned above and that he succeeds in destroying the American economy, the American military, the American Constitution, and the core fundamental principles upon which this country was founded, and which made it great.

I do not, so while I wish him well as a person (and I will most definitely pray for him daily), I absolutely reject the idea of wishing him success.

Rush Limbaugh sums up this line of thinking better than I ever could.  Listen.

I am a proud rejectionist, because I believe that to reject Obama's vision for hope-n-change is to embrace all that makes up the heart of American exceptionalism.  When people ask me what I think of Obama and his administration, I say that I hope I'm wrong about him.  If he follows his campaign promises and implements his proposals, today will mark the day of America's accelerated descent into disaster.  The worst part is that it will be an act of supreme betrayal, a voluntary suicide at the hands of America's own leader.  Like I said, I truly do hope I'm wrong about him.

The real question during the campaign wasn't whether or not we wanted change, but rather what kind of change did we want?  Similarly, the question now is not whether this is an historic day but rather why is it historic?  I suspect
that most people will be so caught up celebrating Obama's skin color -- in the name of ignoring skin color -- that they won't look past the pigment to what lies underneath.  This is truly an historic event, but most people will miss 99% of the true reasons why.

There's my two cents.
