Missouri Sen. Kit Bond (R) will retire in 2010, a decision that hands Democrats a prime pickup opportunity in a state where the party has made strides in recent years.
"In 1972, I became Missouri's youngest Governor," Bond said this morning in an address to the Missouri General Assembly. "Ladies and Gentlemen, I do not aspire to become Missouri's oldest Senator."

After the past two years of being a McCain wannabe on issues like immigration and a general government-can-fix-everything big spender, Bond wouldn't have gotten my vote, anyway. Now maybe we can get some real conservative leadership in there, someone like Jim Talent. It'll be a tough fight, but one that can definitely be won, and that will be a major step up from Bond.
There's my two cents.
