Pelosi Toast

Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelsoi has been officially busted over waterboarding:
On April 23, 2009, the Far Left Speaker denied she had been told that waterboarding or other illegal interrogation methods were being used on terrorist detainees:

Poor Speaker Pelosi.
She lied to the American public a week ago.
She did not plan on the CIA leaking a memo showing that she knew about waterboarding all along.
Isn't it about time for some frogmarching?
FOX News reported:
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi insisted Friday that she was briefed only once about the "enhanced" interrogation techniques being used on terrorism suspects and that she was assured by lawyers with the CIA and the Department of Justice that the methods were legal.

Pelosi issued a statement after CIA records released this week showed that Pelosi was briefed in September 2002 on the interrogation methods. The briefings memo appeared to contradict the speaker's claims that she was never told that waterboarding or other enhanced interrogation methods were being used.

"We were not -- I repeat -- were not told that waterboarding or any of these other enhanced interrogation methods were used," Pelosi said on April 23.

The emphasis seems to be on "were used," even though she conceded in a statement released Friday that she was told they would be used.

"As I said in my statement of December 9, 2007: 'I was briefed on interrogation techniques the (Bush) administration was considering using in the future. The administration advised that legal counsel for both the CIA and the Department of Justice had concluded that the techniques were legal,'" she said.

But even that statement is at odds with the official record of the briefings recorded in the CIA memo dated to Sept. 4, 2002. That memo says Pelosi received a "briefing on EITs (enhanced interrogation techniques), including use of EITs on Abu Zubaydah, background on authorities and a description of particular EITs that had been employed."
Unreal. She's still lying.
Now she's saying that she knew EIT's were going to be used but not that they had been used.
Pelosi was told the EIT's had already been used during her 2002 briefing.

Let the "truth" hearings begin!
Republican Rep. Hoekstra is tightening the screws:

Hoekstra demanded the release of more documents, apparently already aware of their contents:

Hoekstra, who requested the history of agency briefings of members of Congress, is also seeking notes made by the CIA during each briefing, documents that he said last week include “a very precise accounting of the substance of each briefing.” He said those memos would detail “not only the specific information provided, but also the degree of bipartisan consensus that existed with respect to the programs in question.”

In a letter to Hoekstra, CIA Director Leon Panetta said the classified memos describing what was said at each briefing would be available at CIA headquarters for review by congressional staff, according to an agency official.

That is no longer sufficient. Since Eric Holder and Barack Obama have opened the possibility of legal action against people in the loop on waterboarding and other techniques, we have seen competing leaks that give small slices of the overall picture. The act of releasing the OLC memos, while not a leak, was another politically selective act intended to give only a small part of the picture for the administration’s purposes. We need to see all of the documentation, with only the most sensitive information redacted, in order to know exactly what was done, who ordered it, who approved it, and who knew about it — and what we discovered as a result of it.

Only by getting all of the information on the table can we have an informed, rational discussion about methods, values, and responsibilities. Obama opened Pandora’s Box, and now we need to let it all escape in order to get the full picture. The drip-drip-drip leaks and releases are akin to a Chinese water torture on rational discussion of this topic, irony definitely intended.

In a sane world, there would be calls for Pelosi's resignation, or at minimum her removal from the leadership of the House.

This is not a sane world right now, so don't bet on much in the way of heavy consequences. Regardless, you should know who the Democrat leadership truly is. Oh, and by the way, this lady is third in line for the Presidency. Makes you feel good, doesn't it?

There's my two cents.
