I'm not a fan of glorifying the casualty count in times of war, but I think the facts need to be presented in an appropriate way, and that is one statistic that can be used to illustrate how each side is doing. One line of the President's speech yesterday served to show how excellently our forces are fighting: we're still under 4,000 casualties since 2003, but we have captured or killed over 1,500 terrorists in Iraq each month since January of 2007! Roughly speaking, that's a 20-1 ratio.
That's a serious butt-spanking. Is it any wonder the surge is working?
