A few days ago I blogged about a known illegal immigrant who had been protected from the authorities by a church for over a year who was going to attend an amnesty rally. Michelle Malkin challenged immigration services to prove we're a sovereign nation (by arresting her and deporting her) rather than a sanctuary nation (by turning a blind eye).
Breitbart.com posts an AP article today that Elvira Arellano was arrested at the rally and deported; she is now back in Mexico.
YES!!!
If you think that all of these warnings about the problems caused by illegal aliens are just so much hot air, I encourage you to read this article. Arellano entered the country illegally, was deported, entered illegally again (this makes her a felon), was convicted of using a false Social Security number (i.e. identity theft - I wonder who she screwed by doing that?), and hid out in a church for the past five years to escape another arrest.
Despite these facts, illegal alien advocates are promising to keep fighting against immigration raids and other attempts to uphold the laws of the United States. They call Arellano's deportation a victory for bringing light to her situation. I would agree, but for a totally different reason. My hope is that these high-profile deportations will cause other illegal aliens to squirm, wondering if they're next.
There's my two cents.
