House Democrats Violate Rules To Steal A Vote!

Speaking of ethical deficiencies, the Democrats in the House have sunk to a new low that I didn't think was possible even for them. Last night, they attempted to steal a vote that would give illegal aliens benefits from a farm bill under consideration. Michelle Malkin posts the process of what happened here.

The short version is that the farm bill in question included the eligibility of illegal aliens to receive federal aid. Republicans introduced a measure to send the bill back to committee to strip out that language. The vote on the measure came out 215-213 in favor, securing a defeat for the Democrats' attempts to give illegal aliens more benefits. Not be be denied, Rep. Michael R. McNulty (Dem, NY) signaled the end of the vote, but then argued that the vote was deadlocked at 214-214. Despite being closed, McNulty then allowed several Democrats to change their votes (voting against it after first voting for it). Unfortunately for them, they were caught up tape doing it, much like Senator Brownback's amnesty switcharoo earlier this summer. An argument erupted, and Republicans ended up storming out of the chamber to protest the blatant disregard for the House rules (video here). As Politico.com puts it, "[t]he flap represents a complete breakdown in parliamentary procedure and an unprecedented low for the historically divided chamber." The House recessed for the evening, but that was not the last of it...Republicans then discovered that there was no record of the vote at all.

Powerline quotes a Washington source as saying, "This is an insult to our democracy, something that Stalin would recognize. It is an unprecedented violation of our democracy that can not be allowed to stand. Do we live in a democracy or a dictatorship?"

Representative Eric Cantor blogs about it here, confirming the details.

Apparently, Democrats are so desperate to benefit illegal aliens and push their own agenda that they're willing to literally steal a vote!

Does anyone remember this statement by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on November 16, 2006: "This leadership team will create the most honest, most open, and most ethical Congress in history."

Apparently, she doesn't, either.

Stay tuned for the verbal fireworks that are flying today - this is most certainly not going to go away! Again, I urge you all to consider the actions of these Democrats. If you're a Republican, do you see how important it is to win elections? If this doesn't wake you up, nothing will! If you're a Democrat, do you REALLY want to be represented by Democrats who blatantly attempt to subvert the legislative process by stealing votes??

There's my two cents.
