Quick Updates

Just a couple quick updates on stories I've blogged about recently:

Russia and Putin
Outgoing Russian President Vladimir Putin has demonstrated that Russia is his to control. After winning a landslide election a few days ago, Putin named his successor as President. Surprisingly, he chose Dmitry Medvedev, who is a much friendlier choice (in relation to the West) than was expected. Still, it demonstrates that Putin controls pretty much everything in Russia, and his own role in the next government is still unknown.

Golden Compass Not So Golden
The atheist movie 'The Golden Compass' was shooting for two things: to breathe life into a weak box office, and to compete with the likes of Narnia, Lord of the Rings, and Harry Potter. It did neither. Although it took first place in its opening weekend with just under $26 million, it fell far short of the hoped-for $35-40 million opening. More critics piled on to the movie, pointing out that regardless of the religious overtones (or lack of), the movie glorifies lying, deceitfulness, selfishness, and rebellion.

No More Christmas
Mount Pleasant, Michigan renamed its "Dickens Christmas Festival" to "Dickens Holiday Festival", showing not only a disregard for the Constitutionality of the word 'Christmas' but also an astounding bend-over for political correctness.

More 'Peace' From The 'Religion Of Peace'
A Canadian man will be charged with murdering his own 16-year old daughter. What was this girl's offense? She refused to wear the traditional Muslim head covering, the hijab. What a great religion of peace, huh?

Now you're up to date!
