Quick Friday Theft/Pork Update #4

We're getting there...

The Queasy Quartet is now down to the Trembling Trio as Voinovich disengages from negotiations.  Here's what I think is the key statement:

[Voinovich] did not believe there was a deal he could agree to on an amendment that would cut as much as $100 billion from the more than $920 billion measure.

Wow, if the Dems aren't even willing to cut out 1/10th of their pork...!  Where's the bipartisanship, Obama??

But could it be getting even better?

Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC) just said in a radio interview that only two "Republican" Senators are still actively attempting to provide the Democrats "bipartisan" cover for their nearly $1,000,000,000,000.00 borrow-and-spend bill. Based on what I've been hearing from around the Hill, and Roll Call's report that Sen. Collins (R-ME) was having misgivings about betraying her party and constituents, those two are (definitely) Arlen Specter (PA) and (most likely) Olympia Snowe (ME).

I would guess that a lot of Collins' 'misgivings' are because of the flood of angry phone calls she's been getting today.  Concentrate your calls on Specter and Snowe.  Hopefully we can pull off a reverse peer pressure effect where Voinovich's departure will prompt Collins to back out, which would increase the pressure on the other two, as well.  You might also consider calling Mitch McConnel, the Minority Leader to pressure him to reign in the two rebels.

Oh, by the way, one of the few people who actually predicted this would all happen is saying that Obama's Theft/Pork bill will bring on an economic armageddon.

Time to hit 'Redial'...

There's my two cents.
