Iran Gets Aggressive With U.S. Navy Ships

Three U.S. Navy ships were harassed by Iranian speedboats while traveling through the Strait of Hormuz earlier this week. The boats were piloted by Iranian Revolutionary Guardsmen, and radio transmissions clearly indicated the Iranians were threatening to blow up the U.S. ships as they approached to within a couple hundred meters. The Navy vessels were literally seconds away from opening fire when the boats turned away.

The Iranians -- displaying their typical bull-headed refusal to acknowledge reality -- say the file footage was faked.

The disturbing thing to contemplate here is exactly why Iran got so aggressive. Was it a dry run? Were they deliberately trying to provoke a live-fire reaction? It's not hard to understand why the Navy ships were a bit jumpy...remember the attack on the U.S.S. Cole?


Same thing happened there - a small boat piloted by Al Qaeda suicide bombers was directed to the side of the ship where it exploded, killing 17 and injuring dozens more.

There's something more to this, and I just hope we figure out what before another attack succeeds.
