Radical Islam Revealed, Part 1: Who Are They?

Who are these terrorists, and what do they believe? Why are they so willing to destroy themselves and their own families in order to kill innocent people? This is a very complex problem, and many so-called experts have been laboring to create peace in the Middle East for decades with only minimal success, so I won't even pretend to be knowledgeable about the answers myself. What I will do, however, is provide you with information from other people who are experts on the subject. I'll present the information; you decide what to think about it and do with it. As we start out, keep in mind that there are any number of terms that are more or less interchangeable. Islamic extremism, Islamic jihad, radical Islam, Islamic fascism, Islamofascism, etc. all mean the same thing: Muslim terrorists who commit violent acts in the name of Islam.

This is the tie that binds them all together. It's not money or status, or even politics that motivates them. It is Islam, and they're all Muslims.

Some radical jihadists appear to be poor young men who have been brainwashed since before they could read or write (Saddam Hussein would pay $25,000 to the families of successful suicide bombers); some are students studying in the West; some are wealthy princes like Osama bin Laden. More recently, we've started seeing doctors and other professionals turn radical. Mohammed Atta, the ringleader of 9/11, earned an engineering degree, then moved to the West, opting for postgraduate studies in Germany. Mohammad al-Hindi, the political leader of Islamic Jihad in Gaza, is a doctor. Five of the eight terrorists involved in the recent attempt to blow up cars filled with metal shrapnel outside night clubs in London -- including Bilal Abdulla and Khalil Ahmed, who later set their own car on fire and drove it into the Glasgow airport -- were doctors. Mohammad Sidique Khan was a teaching assistant who masterminded the July 7, 2005, transport bombings in London. Their backgrounds are diverse, but they all believe essentially the same things: hate the West, kill Westerners.

Part of the reason for this is that they start brainwashing their children to feverishly hate the West at a very young age. The 11-year-old host of Hamas television's most popular show stated that "she, like all Palestinians, hopes to become a 'martyr.'" The role models in Palestine are suicide bombers, not sports stars - girls schools, summer camps, and soccer tournaments are named after the worst (or best, depending on how you look at it) ones. Compare how the children of the west are brought up with the children of jihad:
Children of the West
In New York City, one nursery school dragged 3-year-old toddlers to the office of Rep. Eliot Engel (D-Bronx/Westchester/Rockland), where they sang "It’s a Small World" around a 12-foot "Tree of Peace." At the playground and at the mall, one can see 5-, 6- and 7-year-olds walking around with pacifiers in their mouths. British educators have now determined that "asking pupils to put their hands up when they think they know the answer to a question in class could make quiet children fall behind." To spare students from this awful terror, the British Department of Education is now recommending that children be given 30 seconds of "thinking time" before being asked to answer or told to discuss questions in pairs before answering. Also, British schools will be administering "happiness tests" to children as young as 4 to ensure high self-esteem. Kids in America are not allowed to keep score in games (if they're allowed to compete at all) so the losers don't feel bad, and activities like kite-flying, musical chairs, sack races, swinging, and skipping are not allowed for various idiotic reasons.

Children of Jihad
'"What is your most lofty aspiration? Death for the sake of Allah!' That is the charming verse kindergarteners in a Hamas classroom chanted last week during their graduation ceremony. The girls dressed in butterfly costumes. The boys donned camouflage, black masks, green bandanas and toy semi-automatic rifles."
This is who they are. When it comes to a battle of ideology, which side do you think is more prepared (or at least more serious): the West, or the jihadists?
