Conservative Assassination

The 'controversy' over Rush Limbaugh's use of the phrase "phony soldiers" has escalated to a new level as resolutions have been introduced in Congress both in favor of, and against, Limbaugh.

Drudge has the text of both bills:
Senate resolution condemning Limbaugh
House resolution supporting Limbaugh

The CEO of ClearChannel (the broadcaster that carries Limbaugh's program to hundreds of stations nationwide) refused to condemn Limbaugh.

It really is quite a joke how big this has become, especially given how simple it is to prove exactly what he said. More proof that the Democrats are more desperate to silence any opposition than to actually do their jobs.

In related news, other conservative talk show hosts are under attack, as well.

Bill O'Reilly was similarly taken out of context and smeared by left-wing organization Media Matters, a group that has increasingly revealed itself to be nothing more than an ultra-liberal character assassination squad.

Michael Savage was condemned by the San Francisco Board of Supervisors for speaking out against illegal immigration. It's not any stretch of the imagination to say that San Francisco is probably one of the most virulently liberal, anti-American cities in this country, so Savage is bearing the brunt of a particularly brutal storm.

Don't worry, these guys are the best of the best, and are more than capable of fighting their own fights, especially given that each has an audience that numbers in the millions. But, let the lesson be evident to all of the rest of us: the far-left liberals will actively fight to silence anyone who doesn't agree with them. It's a tactic perfected by Stalin and Hitler, and should have no place in America. Sadly, one of the biggest counters to these silencing techniques is an open media, but today in America the MSM has openly cast its lot with the silencers.

Thank God for the blogosphere!

There's my two cents.
