Priorities In Education

Well, here's another fine example of what our educational system is focusing on: a high school in Chicago has banned hugging.

That's right, we don't need to worry about violence, drugs, or failing grades in school; we need to ban hugging.

The administration claims that some of the hugging was inappropriate ("Too long, too close, and usually between boys and girls"), and was creating bottlenecks in the hallways. That's understandable, I suppose, but it then seems awfully strange that the hug ban is the result of "a comprehensive discipline and anti-bullying plan."

Huh??

But that's not all. In addition to banning the discipline-flaunting and bully-inducing hug, the equally abhorrent high-five is "frowned upon".

Education rocks.

There's my two cents.
