Another Economic Disconnect

I think it's funny how you hear about our economy being a disaster, with a crisis here and a crisis there, and then you see an article with this headline:
With Turkey Beckoning, Travelers Hit the Road, Sky, Train Tracks; Record Numbers Expected
Something doesn't add up here...how can the economy be a disaster, with gas prices and food/heating costs about to plunge America into general chaos if a record number of people are expected to travel long distances to celebrate Thanksgiving with friends and family?

The truth is that the economy is fine. Sure, there are problems -- for example, no one would complain if gas prices came down -- but anytime the economy at large is growing by almost 4% per year, things are fine. The fact that more Americans are traveling this year than ever should put the question to bed all by itself.

There's my two cents.
