The latest developments from Pakistan:
Top officials say that Musharraf will be sworn in as a civilian president later this week. Unfortunately, former Prime Minister Sharif, now back in Pakistan, has demanded that General Musharraf step down, saying he would not serve in a government position under a Musharraf presidency.
The Bush administration still supports Musharraf, seeing him as the best bet against Islamic terrorism in a nuclear-armed Muslim country. But, the Bush administration is also strongly urging Musharraf to end his emergency rule and step down from his position as head of the military.
Sounds like things are coming to a conflict point very soon, and someone is going to have to blink. Hopefully it'll come out okay for the U.S.
There's my two cents.
