The Religion Of Perpetual Outrage Strikes Again

The U.K. Daily Mail reports on a British teacher in Sudan, Gillian Gibbons, who was arrested for naming her class (of 7-year-olds) teddy bear 'Mohammed', after one of the students. She faces three charges: insulting Islam, inciting religious hatred and contempt for religious beliefs - each of which carries a maximum penalty of 40 lashes and a year in jail.

A powerful newspaper -- which is considered to have been instrumental in implementing Sharia law in part of the country -- and many others have come out in opposition to her actions. Though some voices of sanity are being heard, it is scary to watch the religious zeal with which these Muslims are attacking this woman, even going so far as to call for her execution.

When are people going to realize that there is something seriously flawed with this religion, when its followers are constantly looking for any insult and using it as justification to terrorize other people? What is wrong with this religion that it allows someone to be arrested for naming a teddy bear after a child?! What is wrong with this religion that this lady could get 40 lashes, prison time, or execution for naming a teddy bear...!

No word of protest from liberal women's rights groups, of course. They apparently wouldn't want to offend Muslims.

The hypocrisy is stunning.

There's my two cents.
