AAAHHH!!! Technical Difficulties

I woke up yesterday morning with no phone connection - no dial tone, no background noise, nothing at all. Zip. Zilch. Nada. On the one hand it's not so bad (I have a cellphone), but on the other hand, our Internet connection is DSL, so it's completely down, too (I'm typing this from a public computer).

Sound the alarm, call out the National Guard - it's a crisis!!!

I feel like I'm operating without one of my normal appendages. It's amazing how you come to rely on technology without realizing it...

Anyway, I placed a call to AT&T, and they assured me with great confidence that they would send someone out to examine my line sometime between 8am and 6pm. Wow, thanks, that's so helpful.

Several hours later my impatience got the best of me, and I called back to check the status of my repair. I was informed that it was actually an area-wide problem, and that it would be resolved by 10pm on Wednesday!
"You've got to be joking!"

"No, sir, we're not allowed to joke about our estimated times of completion."
That's what he
acutally said. Isn't a monopoly great? It provides the absolute highest level of customer service imaginable.

I'll be back up and running as soon as possible, hopefully in the next day or so. In the meantime, please feel free to make gratuitous use of the links on the right side of the page.

Happy Labor Day!
