Another Reminder To Weigh In On SCHIP

Just another reminder to call and e-mail your representatives in Congress to offer your opinion on the SCHIP bill that is coming up for a vote on Thursday. The bill passed the Senate with a veto-proof majority, so the best chance to kill the bill is in the House. Contact your Reps, contact House Minority Leader John Boehner, and contact Speaker Nancy Pelosi. You may not get a warm welcome from Pelosi's office, but that's okay - their job is to listen to you, whether they like it or not.

I've blogged repeatedly about the downsides of this plan, so I won't go into the details (if you want to review, just search my blog for "SCHIP" and you'll find everything you need to know). The important thing is to call your reps and tell them that you understand SCHIP has become a bill to expand the federal government through massive new taxes to gain control of health care rather than to cover poor children, and that you want no part of that. Tell them you strenuously oppose SCHIP in its current form, and that you will be watching how they vote later this week.

Just like the amnesty debate, the American people will have their ultimate say on this one. If we flood the Capitol with calls and e-mails, they'll listen.

There's my two cents.
