Is It Arrogance Or Presumption? Does It Matter?

Barack the Obamessiah's acceptance speech on Thursday evening will be at midfield of Invesco Field, to an undoubtedly swooning crowd of almost 80,000 followers.  Apparently, it's going to be quite a spectacle:

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's big speech on Thursday night will be delivered from an elaborate columned stage resembling a miniature Greek temple.

Some 80,000 supporters will see Obama appear from between plywood columns painted off-white, reminiscent of Washington's Capitol building or even the White House, to accept the party's nomination for president.

He will stride out to a raised platform to a podium that can be raised from beneath the floor.

The show should provide a striking image for the millions of Americans watching on television as Obama delivers a speech accepting the Democratic presidential nomination.

Politicians in past elections have typically spoken from the convention site itself, but the Obama campaign liked the idea of having their man speak to a larger, stadium-sized crowd not far from where the Democratic National Convention is being held, at the Denver pro basketball arena.

Unbelievable!  I can't decide which is more presumptuous: a stage that resembles the White House, or a stage that resembles a Greek temple.  Either one serves to show how arrogant and presumptuous the Obamessiah is.  This production also shows just how much the Democrat party values style over substance.

They need to watch out...even though many Democrats will undoubtedly be wowed by this gaudy display of egomania, the increasing number of fence-riders, undecideds, and Independents, could see this as being way over the top.  If you recall, that's exactly what happened with the Obamessiah pseudo-Presidential seal.

Historian Victor Davis Hanson comments:

I think it's called blind hubris...

Let me get this straight: Obama goes to Europe, does a garish outdoor extravaganza before thousands, returns to find himself dubbed a publicity-seeking celebrity, analogous to Paris Hilton—and abruptly begins a tailspin in the polls. And now in reaction, at the greatest moment of his life, he transfers his acceptance speech to an open-air stadium to handle tens of thousands of frenzied fans, replete with Greek temple (Olympian Zeus or Parthenon?) as the backdrop stage, and outspoken rock stars?

His handlers now seem as inept in the general elections as they were once adept in the primaries.

That's because they're now trying to appeal to normal people rather than the radical Left-wing fringe of the Democrat party.  They're vastly out of touch with normal people.

On a personal note, some of the local commentators (even non-Dems) here in Kansas City are predicting the best speech Obama's ever given, and are expecting to have their socks knocked off.  I'm not so sure.  He's already pledged to heal the sick, provide hope to the hopeless, unite the world, and save the planet itself...what else is there to do?  Feed the galactic poor?  Secure the entire universe from the tyranny of alter-dimensional oppression?

My guess is that it'll be much of the same feel-good, happy-happy kumbaya fluff that he's so good at delivering (as long as he has a functioning teleprompter).  It'll be just another fancy version of the hope-change-unity-this-is-the-moment dance that characterizes all of his speeches.  Nothing more, nothing less.

There's my two cents.

They are absolutely out of touch with 'real people'. The Parthenon background/staging is absolutely amazing. Obama and his staff apparently believe (and I do mean believe) that he is something out of this world, a gift sent by God (as Pelosi said).

They may be sorely surprised in November. This may come back to bite them big time at the voting booth.
