Veepstakes Update

From Little Green Footballs:

TIME's Mark Halperin has "two Republican sources" who say John McCain has decided on Mitt Romney for veep.

On the Obama side, Politico's Mike Allen says Hillary was never even vetted.

The Romney choice is still a rumor, so take it for what it's worth.  For the record, I think Romney would be a great choice - it shows unity where once there was serious disagreement, it brings considerable economic firepower to the ticket, he's been vetted already, he puts a blue state into play, and Romney meets that all-important qualification: he could plausibly run the country if McCain keeled over.

I think it's interesting to see that Clinton wasn't ever even considered to be VP.  I'm not a bit surprised, but this probably won't go over well with her supporters.  I suggested before that Hillary may try to make a play at the convention next week...is she even more likely to do so now, after being publicly slapped in the face by the Obamessiah?

This should be fun to watch!

There's my two cents.
