Hidden Agenda, Hidden Danger

I found two stories of gross abuses of judicial power this morning on two critically important issues.

First, U.S. District Judge Victor Marrero in New York barred the FBI from secretly obtaining data from electronic communications companies, ruling the procedure unconstitutional as a violation of the first amendment. The procedure is part of the Patriot Act, which was implemented to help prevent future terrorist attacks on American citizens and interests.

Second, Maxine M. Chesney of federal court in San Francisco issued a ruling Friday temporarily barring the Social Security agency from sending 141,000 already-prepared "no-match" letters to notify businesses of potential identity fraud. The no-match campaign is one of the first real steps forward in rooting out illegal aliens in businesses across America, and is a common sense measure that should have been implemented years ago. In response to Chesney's ruling, the SSA warned of serious backlogs in its processing of millions of routine retirement and disability claims, especially given the increase in workload as the illegal worker issue heats up.

I was shocked -- SHOCKED -- to learn that both judges were appointed by Clinton, and that the lawsuits prompting these rulings were filed by the ACLU (and others).

So there you have it: federal judges re-writing legislation from the bench to fit their own personal agendas on political issues. When are we going to realize that this is a growing problem with tremendous implications? If they wanted to make laws, they should have gotten elected to the Legislative branch. As a judge, their job is to interpret the law as it is already written. We need to demand better accountability on judges all over the country, and find some way to recall the ones that conduct this blatant judicial activism.

The bottom line is this: it matters who wins elections. The President gets the privilege of appointing federal judges, so if the President is a lefty wacko, we can expect to get lefty wacko judges like these two. It is issues like this that make it so critical that every conservative gets out and votes! The alternative is to watch our rights and freedoms get taken away from us by individuals with wacko agendas.

There's my two cents.
