Senator's Outrageous Slander Against Our Troops

One of the leading Democrats in the Senate, Chuck Schumer of New York, has reached a new low in a recent speech:
And let me be clear, the violence in Anbar has gone down despite the surge, not because of the surge. The inability of American soldiers to protect these tribes from al Qaeda said to these tribes we have to fight al Qaeda ourselves. It wasn't that the surge brought peace here. It was that the warlords took peace here, created a temporary peace here. And that is because there was no one else there protecting.
Schumer is saying that the military progress in Iraq has been won by the Iraqi tribal leaders rather than our troops. While those leaders have definitely been instrumental in sustaining the peace throughout large portions of Iraq, that peace was won by American (and coalition) forces. This guy clearly despises the American military, and is making no effort to hide his disdain. He is essentially calling the sacrifice of the 3000+ lives lost over the past few years a waste of time and effort. What a vile piece of filth!

His words illustrate two things: first, that he is so blinded by his hope for surrender and defeat that he can't even recognize plain facts when they're right in front of him (and echoed by his own party); second, that it doesn't matter one bit what Petraeus and Crocker report next week - he's going to denounce them and their message.

It's no secret anymore - these are your liberal Democrat leaders, in all their glory.

There's my two cents.
